Abdeslam was arrested after being shot in the arm and is receiving medical treatment on the scene, Brussels newspaper La Libre reports.
According to BFM TV, police were tipped off by a “human” source that Abdeslam was in search of a hideout after Tuesday’s raid in Brussels.
They then tracked several safe houses they believe he had used in the past. RTBF said they had been watching the one in rue des Quatre Vents for the past two days.
“The operation underway is lnked to the Paris attacks,” said François Hollande, the French president.
Mr Hollande added: “We must let the Belgian police get on with their job”.
According to l’Express, two men, Salah Abdeslam and an identified accomplice have both been wounded and arrested.
