If you think it’s tough to look at this girl’s bleeding eyes, imagine living with them — and having doctors tell you they can’t do anything to help.

That’s the scary reality for Marnie-Rae Harvey, a 17-year-old British girl making headlines for her undiagnosed bleeding disorder, which also affects her ears, nose, mouth, scalp, and fingernails.

Marnie-Rae told the BBC that she woke up one night last summer with bleeding eyes, so her parents called an ambulance. But after testing her blood and doing a full examination, the hospital doctors found nothing wrong with her.

“Haemolacria” is medical speak for bloody tears, but Marnie-Rae was cleared of all the known causes, including injuries, clotting problems, and tear gland disorders.

In the following weeks, her eyes continued to bleed, but after more tests from multiple specialists, there was still no clear cause of the alarming condition that’s left the poor girl unable to have a social life or go to school, as she’s “always in the house.”

Happened to me when I was in college. UCLA doctor asked if I lived in the dorms, and I said yes. He said “cockroaches” crawl on the eye and leave a virus that causes it. I moved out and it went away…

Maybe she needs to do that.
