Omar Mateen’s wife is a target of the FBI probe into his terror rampage, two congressmen said Wednesday — with one predicting that Noor Salman “could be charged” in the deadly attack on a gay nightclub in Florida.
“I know that she is the focus of the investigation. I know that they are considering charges against her,” Rep. Peter King (R-LI), a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, told The Post. “She could be charged with being a co-conspirator to murdering 49 people.”
Sen. Angus King (I-Maine), no relation, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said that his committee had been briefed on the Florida massacre and that it appeared Salman had “some knowledge” of what her husband was planning.
“We don’t know whether she was involved and knew about the purchase of the guns, which took place, by the way, only about a week before the attack,” he told CNN. “But she definitely is, I guess you would say, a person of interest right now and appears to be cooperating and can provide us with some important information on who this guy is, what his motivations were and what his plans were.”
Meanwhile, a federal grand jury reportedly was investigating the early Sunday bloodbath at the Pulse nightclub, in which Mateen was killed by cops.
