A New York court has denied Donald Trump’s bid to throw out a lawsuit accusing Trump University of fraud, saying that the state Attorney General’s office is “authorized to bring a cause of action for fraud.”

On Monday, the appeals court ruled against Trump’s lawyers who contend that the suit should be tossed out because the statute of limitations on the case had expired, reports the New YorkDaily News.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman filed the suit in 2013, claiming Trump’s real-estate investment school, which closed in 2010, was a sham that ripped off its students.

According to the Daily News, the appeals court did agree with a lower-court judge that some of the claims were barred by a three-year stature of limitations, but the bulk of the lawsuit was allowed to move forward.
