Dissent is Forbidden: Portland Crackpots Ban ‘Climate Change-Denying’ Material in Schools

The science is settled, so we must eliminate anything that questions the junk science! Heck, the reporter for this doesn’t even bother to seek another opinion.

America: We had a great run, but shut up now.

In a move spearheaded by environmentalists, the Portland Public Schools board unanimously approved a resolution aimed at eliminating doubt of climate change and its causes in schools.

So right there they casually signal that control of a city’s education system is now controlled by far-left extremists. Hey, why bother hiding it?

“It is unacceptable that we have textbooks in our schools that spread doubt about the human causes and urgency of the crisis,” said Lincoln High School student Gaby Lemieux in board testimony. “Climate education is not a niche or a specialization, it is the minimum requirement for my generation to be successful in our changing world.”

Well, isn’t Gaby precious? Seems to know everything for a student.

The resolution passed Tuesday evening calls for the school district to get rid of textbooks or other materials that cast doubt on whether climate change is occurring and that the activity of human beings is responsible. The resolution also directs the superintendent and staff to develop an implementation plan for “curriculum and educational opportunities that address climate change and climate justice in all Portland Public Schools.”

Can’t wait to see what sort of “climate justice” is meted out for dissenters, if there are any even left after years of brainwashing and indoctrination.

Bill Bigelow, a former PPS teacher and current editor of ReThinking Schools, an online magazine devoted to education issues, worked with 350PDX and other environmental groups to present the resolution.

“A lot of the text materials are kind of thick with the language of doubt, and obviously the science says otherwise,” Bigelow says, accusing the publishing industry to bowing to pressure from fossil fuels companies. “We don’t want kids in Portland learning material courtesy of the fossil fuel industry.”

Instead, they’ll leave that to the climate hoax industry. We’re wondering if in this school’s health class they’re teaching about the undeniable science that boys are boys and girls are girls?

Does that mean that any teacher that wants to present both sides of the controversy will get fired? Seems to me there is one hell of a lawsuit brewing in this school district.

It would be cool to see a black marker crossing out anything that is forbidden in the text books. That might make students questions why is that crossed out, and the teacher has to explain why…It might start a discussion about censorship. Maybe I being to optimistic.

What basis would there be for a lawsuit? People who *actually* understand science and the role that humanity plays in the environment are not a protected class.
