We’re pretty sure a majority of Americans would prefer he serve the rest of his time as part-time president behind bars. But hey, it’s not as if he’s got anything other than golf going on, so why not act as a prop for an HBO documentary.
President Obama is set to tour Oklahoma’s El Reno Correctional Institution on Thursday, becoming the first sitting president to visit a federal prison, the White House said last week.
Obama will meet with law enforcement officials and prisoners when he visits El Reno, a medium security prison that’s home to 1,300 inmates. He’ll be accompanied by Federal Bureau of Prisons Director Charles E. Samuels Jr.
The trip, which will be recorded by Vice as part of an HBO documentary slated to air this Fall, is just one stop, however, in a week packed with criminal justice events for Obama.
Obama will speak about reforming sentencing guidelines when he addressed the NAACP’s annual conference in Philadelphia on Tuesday. The President is also widely expected to commute the sentences of dozens of non-violent offenders during the week. He previously commuted the sentences of 22 drug offenders in March.
Speaking of criminal justice events, former liberal media darling Richard Clarke said Sunday the incompetent Obama has been almost criminally negligent in allowing the OPM hack by the Chinese.
A former adviser to four presidents on national security said on Sunday that the Obama administration has been “almost criminally negligent” in its response to China’s massive cyber attack on the U.S. government.
“I don’t blame the Chinese,” Richard Clarke said on ABC’s Face the Nation. “This is what intelligence agencies do. This is what the United States does. We steal this sort of information. I blame the Obama administration for taking this issue not seriously enough. This is almost criminal negligence.”
“Criminal negligence, those are strong words, Richard,” host and former Democratic advisor George Stephanopoulos said.
Yeah, Richard, can we get back to talking about the Confederate flag, please?
