It’s prefaced with that fake, phony laugh of hers. So of course she was full of shit. To be fair, she’s not ever going to run again since she can barely walk.
You always have to parse every single word with these con artists.
Back in 2009, then-US secretary of state Hillary Clinton was asked if she would ever again run for the White House.
“No,” Clinton told NBC’s Today show.
“This is a great job. It is a 24/7 job. And I’m looking forward to retirement at some point.”
Six years later retirement is off the cards for the 67-year-old, who is set to begin campaigning for the US presidency in the 2016 election.
Many would have preferred Clinton to take the retirement option. As a candidate, besides near-universal name recognition, she has little to recommend her. “Everywhere Hillary Clinton goes, a thousand cameras follow. Then she opens her mouth, and nothing happens,” the Atlantic‘s Molly Ball observed last September. “Has America ever been so thoroughly tired of a candidate before the campaign even began?”
Probably not, although there is always a big appetite for Clinton’s many and continuing gaffes and scandals. Some of these are entirely self-generated, such as the time she claimed to have been named after mountaineer Sir Edmund Hillary. But Sir Edmund did not become famous until he conquered Mt Everest in 1953. Clinton was born six years earlier, when Hillary was an unknown Auckland bee-keeper.
