We’re so old we can remember when Democrats suddenly concerned with the pricetag of things.
The House committee investigating the deadly attacks in Benghazi, Libya, has now spent more than $5 million in taxpayer money, according to a tally by House Democrats.
Democrats say the Republican-led probe is a partisan effort to undermine Hillary Rodham Clinton’s White House bid and said a marathon hearing with Clinton last month only confirmed their views. Clinton, who was secretary of state during the attacks, endured a grueling interrogation by GOP lawmakers at the 11-hour hearing.
Moving fast to prevent the type of terror murder Syrian-refugees bloodied Paris with, a key senator Monday moved to kill funds for President Obama’s controversial and potentially dangerous plan to bring 85,000-100,000 refugees to the United States.
Sen. Jeff Sessions, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest, said in a letter to Senate appropriators that funding the program would amount to an invitation to foreign-born terrorists unleashing their venom on Americans.
“The barbaric attacks in Paris — an assault on civilization itself — add immense new urgency,” the Alabama Republican wrote.
In demanding hearings on the president’s plan, he also said that the cost to resettle the refugees could soar past $55 billion and they would be allowed to receive housing, welfare and food stamps.
That’s assuming they don’t just fade into the wind, like one of Obama’s new dreamers.
