Amtrak Crash in Philadelphia Kills Six, Ghoulish Liberals Try to Score Cheap Political Points

There was an awful Amtrak derailment Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

At least six people were killed and dozens injured, six critically, when a northbound Amtrak train derailed Tuesday night in Port Richmond.

In the moments after the derailment, scores of emergency personnel swarmed over more than a half-dozen toppled train cars, trying to reach the dazed, the injured, the dying.

Some people were reported trapped in the train, and crews were cutting into the cars to try to free the injured.

Ladder 10 was the first to respond to the scene. When firefighters arrived, they found two people under the train, a fire official said.

At a briefing early Wednesday morning, with Gov. Wolf at his side, Mayor Nutter gave the grim numbers: In addition to the dead, 65 people were taken to area hospitals, primarily Temple University Hospital. Six were in critical condition.

Nutter initially reported that there were five dead. A sixth person died later at Temple hospital.

It was unclear hours later how many people were still not accounted for.

Train 188, bound to New York from Washington with 238 passengers and five crew members aboard, had left 30th Street Station minutes before the accident, which occurred near a curve at Wheatsheaf Lane and I-95.

Nutter told reporters the first fire call came in at 9:28 p.m. and quickly grew to four alarms. In all, he said, 33 pieces of equipment were sent in to help, along with 122 Fire Department personnel and Emergency Medical Services workers. Also responding were about 200 police officers, and officials from the Department of Homeland Security, Pennsylvania State Police, SEPTA, and Amtrak.

Obviously an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident, but the lack of details isn’t stopping the leftists freaks from blaming the GOP, of course.

You really have to be a horrible human being to even think about tweeting something like that.

Indeed. Politico clown Blake Hounshell chimed in:

Hey, it’s all they know.

Well, here’s an optimist:

Well, if they lived, that is.

Then there’s this national embarrassment:

Jesus H. Christ, people.

Bearing in mind, of course that, to Washington DC and all who sail within her, a “funding cut” means that they didn’t get as much of an increase as they wanted.

“The President has been a longtime advocate for investing in our infrastructure and making sure that we have the kind of 21st century infrastructure we know is going be critical to the success of our country,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said on CNN’s “New Day.” Earnest said that the Obama administration is “hard at work” trying to figure out what caused the crash, and that their thoughts and prayers are with the families of everyone effected.

If there just was another $5 or $6 trillion to spend on infrastructure, this crash could have been avoided.

If AMTRAK can’t sustain itself through fees and fares it should be eliminated. Plain and simple. Then the safety funding extortion whine goes away. Poof!

I blame Obama. You know he has been the president (I know hard to believe) for over 6 years.

Being broke by April every year, we’re supposed to provide for the common train rides too?

The only AMTRAK line to make money is the Northeast Corridor. Had the filthy anti-American left allowed the money losing lines to be shed, the income produced by the NEC line wiuld have been sufficient to maintain the line.
IMO, it is a classic case of TUM.
    Typical Union Maintenance.

I know what USUALLY causes trains to derail in the U.S. : urban kids trying to derail trains for fun.

Lived near the tracks in Redwood City CA a couple of decades ago. Walked across and found 5 or 6 neighborhood Mexican pre-teens and early-teens (the kids were born here and could speak some English, but a lot of the parents only spoke Spanish) building a ramp of rocks and metal over the track.

“Where do you live?” They pointed to a row of shack-houses from 30 to 100 yards away. “You’re going to kill your whole family! Who is going to take care of you then?”

“It doesn’t go over there,” they said. “It just comes off the track. We got one last week with a car door. You have to angle it just right.”

Got derailed on an Amtrack train about 15 yrs ago outside Philly. When they finally transferred us to another train I said to the conductor as I passed him: “kids?” He nodded yes.

Anyone who even THINKS about high speed rail in this country doesn’t know their country at all.
