Well, That Was Fast: Woman Who Doesn’t Want to Pay for Birth Control Decides Against Running for Congress

Instead she’ll for for the California State Senate. We suspect Democrats that actually have experience intervened here. Even with that, people who’ve actually lived in the state longer than her–pretty much everyone–probably are more than a bit annoyed by this twit.

Democratic attorney and activist Sandra Fluke has decided against running for retiring Rep. Henry A. Waxman’s congressional seat, instead planning a bid for the state Senate.

“I am extremely moved by the outpouring of local and national support I have received since I announced that I was considering running for office. My entire career has been devoted to the public interest, whether representing victims of human trafficking or advocating for working families,” Fluke said late Tuesday night. “I am committed to continuing that fight in Sacramento, working to protect our environment, ensure our access to health care, and create the jobs that are desperately needed. While I strongly considered offering my candidacy for Congress, I feel there is a better way for me to advance the causes that are important to our community.”

Fluke became famous in 2012 after radio host Rush Limbaugh called her a “slut” when the then-law student testified in Congress in favor of mandatory insurance coverage of contraception.

Until the end of days we’ll be hearing about that Rush Limbaugh line. Probably the first line on her resume. She really is the perfect liberal, though, looking to spend her life living on the public dime.

Perhaps this has less to do with the tolerance for twittiness in Waxman’s district, and more to do with the vexation that prominent dems must have felt over this neophyte cutting in line and securing an easy, lifetime gig in the House. I imagine that the threat of having all party campaign funding withheld would cause even the most verdant partisan to blanch.

It’s possible that they’re truly interested in developing her game in the Cali State Senate, but I doubt it. #WARONWOMEN Serious, you guys.

Can’t afford birth control, can afford to run for office. Hmmmm, what’s up with that?

Is it REALLY that surprising that she would pull out? That she would choose to abort her campaign? Or that she would try to find any other position that was easier to fill?

    “She never testified in Congress.”

Note the wording. She testified “in Congress” as the Democrats set up the sham hearing in a vacant hearing room. She just didn’t testify “before Congress.” A worthy successor to the Clintons.

You are a useful idiot with a degree from Georgetown Law.

You don’t “advocate for working families” by advancing socialism. Every government that has implemented socialism has consumed “working families” in its quest to create Utopia.

This is exactly what is happening when ObamaCare triggers the loss of millions of working class jobs and forces more and more “working families” into multiple part-time jobs.

Sandra- you are the type of person who would set about to fix ObamaCare, and make it even worse in the process. We no longer can afford to allow people like you anywhere near government.

I expected this as Waxman’s district has the big Hollywood studios who would want someone versed in tax law to ensure that the loopholes, tax breaks, and subsidies keep coming

No doubt she was told by CA Dem heads “start smaller”

To be fair to Rush, he didn’t actually call her a slut; he asked rhetorically if she was a slut or a prostitute, and that only after doing the math to determine how many times per month she would have to have sex in order to rack up the contraceptive bill she was demanding be subsidized by taxpayers.

It was simply Rush at his inquisitive best, which always makes libs cry.

It always amazes me how arrogant some of these politicians are. She got a law degree… why not be a lawyer for a while and live in the real world for a while before ruling over us? Why not learn something?

She could be a public defender for twenty years and then be a much better congressperson. Granted, I don’t agree with her on anything, but I would prefer the left at least have some depth in their leadership.

This is like Wendy Davis running for governor of the massive, dynamic state of Texas, with its rather large government and geography. Ms Davis has never actually run anything before, but thinks she should be elected to run Texas? Why? What does she know about doing that? That she got good press for a stunt, much like Ms Fluke?

Oh well. We get the government we deserve.

I thought the Hollywood studios were in Adam Schiff’s District?

Either way, I suspect that Dem Party big-wigs view the Waxman Seat™ as above Fluke’s place in the world, and probably told her not to expect any help if she ran for it.
