He’s really winning them over, huh?
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio received boos Monday from the audience at a graduation ceremony for the city’s newest police officers, after he didn’t address simmering anger among some officers that has prompted symbolic protests.
At one point during the speech, de Blasio said that officers needed to face problems that they themselves didn’t create. Someone then reportedly yelled at the mayor, “you created them.”
He built that, you could say.
During a graduation ceremony for the latest class of graduates from the Police Academy, audience members shouted “Traitor!” as Hizzoner took the podium in Madison Square Garden.
Wondering why his boss Al Sharpton wasn’t there.
De Blasio’s press office was prepared for the negative reception, and immediately emailed reporters with news accounts of previous ceremonies “to remind folks that today was not the first time a NYC Mayor has been booed at a police graduation.”
Moments after the jeers, De Blasio's political team blasted out email noting that Bloomberg was booed at 2003 PD ceremony.
