Thanks, Obama! Penalty For Not Signing Up For ObamaCare Scam to More Than Triple

Posted by on Nov 13, 2014 at 7:22 am

In a week where you discover Team Obama has nothing but contempt for you, it should warm your heart that they’re now going to gouge you even more if you didn’t sign up for this mess. Sorry, stupid Americans.

Americans will see their bank accounts shrink if they don’t sign up for Obamacare in its second enrollment season.

Uninsured Americans who decide not to enroll will face a penalty of $325 per person, more than tripling the $95 penalty those who did not enroll had to pay the first time around.

Children under the age of 18 will be fined $162.50. The maximum amount an uninsured family will be penalized is $975 under the flat-rate method.

Oh, they’re fining minors now? Awesome. War on Children, yo!

“The penalty is meant to incentivize people to get coverage,” Laura Adams, senior analyst of, told CBS News. “This year, I think a lot of people are going to be in for a shock.”

CBS News reports that many Obamacare plans will be charging more as a 27-year-old earning 250 percent of the poverty rate will now have to pay an average of 7 percent more for the lowest-cost bronze plan. The analysis from Investor’s Business Daily found that the lowest-cost silver plan will rise 9 percent and the lowest-priced catastrophic policy will go up by 18 percent.

Not only that, you’re sure to experience a wonderful time trying to sign up on their billion-dollar website. Curious how this news didn’t seep out before the midterms, huh?

Adams stated that very few uninsured Americans don’t understand the penalties they are facing.

“There is very little awareness of this,” she told CBS News. “Until people understand the financial consequences, they don’t have an incentive.”

Well, this stuff happens when you live in a secretive dictatorship.

In the eternal words of Dr. Strangelove:

“Of course, the whole point of [an ObamaCare incentive] is lost, if you *keep* it a *secret*! Why didn’t you tell the world, EH? “

One would think that a case to have this dismissed on “origination” would be a slam dunk at this point….Roberts!

One of the roots of ObamaCare and the resulting waste of money can be found in the fact that when government can create almost unlimited money out of thin air, money has no value to the officials who have free reign to create as much as they need to fund their Utopian dreams. Single payor health insurance has been one of the main dreams of Utopians for several generations. The hard truth is that when Utopians are in power, nearly infinite fiat money enables nearly infinite government fiat.

Every day more people are coming to the judgment that a carefully organized effort to repair the constitution via the States’ power to propose and ratify amendments has less risk to our liberty and prosperity than the present trajectory of the federal government and especially the federal bureaucracy.

The first order of business of an Article V Convention must be to limit government’s ability to create and spend near-
    infinite amounts of money.

“Adams stated that very few uninsured Americans don’t understand the penalties they are facing.”

That would imply that many DO understand what they’re facing. That “don’t” needs to be deleted.

I can see most of America behind bars with this idiotic “law.”

The cost to renounce US citizenship was recently increased from $450 to $2350. Under George W Bush it was free and there were very few takers.

But the cost of compliance with the tax code and heavy handed income reporting laws are making dual citizens think twice about the benefits of citizenship. And the high numbers of people that renounced are miniscule compared to the number of ‘Americans’ who simply went back to their own countries, withdrew all of their American money and dropped off the radar.

A broke US government is to be feared.

Remember, by law this fine can only come out of your refund, if you have one. So, set your taxes up (change your withholding exemptions on your W-4) so you don’t get a refund, and you don’t pay the penalty. You also get more money every month doing this, and can earn a little interest on it while saving to pay your taxes on 15 April.

The penalty is still a lot cheaper than the cheapest Obamacare yearly premiums. And the plan has such high deductible that it will never pay anything for healthy young people.
My 26 yr old son hasn’t needed to visit a doctor in the last 5 years.
The company he works for dropped its healthcare plan due to ACA regulations, so he’s uninsured. Keeping him on my plan under COBRA was almost $2,000 a month.
For people living paycheck to paycheck Obamacare has not been much help, requiring purchase of ins that they cannot afford and/or causing them to lose plans that either didn’t meet ACA req or because their employer dropped company susidized insurance.
