State Department Gets Tough on Putin By Posting Selfies

Posted by on Mar 28, 2014 at 7:21 am

Jesus H. Christ, we’ve got a bunch of amateurs in charge here. Vladimir Putin must be quaking in his boots.

Russian leader Vladmir Putin sent in troops and tanks to invade neighboring Ukraine and the Obama administration is coming to the rescue with . . . selfies!

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki was mocked Thursday after posting a photo of herself on Twitter holding a sign that read #UnitedForUkraine @StateDeptSpox.”

Psaki, who has worked closely with President Obama since his 2008 campaign and is the chief communications adviser to Secretary of State John Kerry, is smiling and giving a thumbs-up in the photo.

But the cheerleading for beleaguered Ukraine wasn’t trending or scaring off bully Putin, said critics in the blogosphere.

“Presenting The Latest US Strategy to Counter ‘Russian Aggression,’ ” a snarky blogger posted on “#Selfies!”

Critics said the photo from America’s chief diplomatic perch was embarrassing.

Is there anything these buffoons do that’s not embarrassing?

Psaki defended her photo.

“The people of Ukraine are fighting to have their voices heard and the benefit of communicating over social media is it sends a direct message to the people that we are with them, we support their fight, their voice and their future,” she said.

Sure, some moron posting a photo of herself must be so comforting with tanks perched on their borders. Sheesh.

“…we are with them, we support their fight, their voice and their future…”

Um, exactly how do we do that? I mean, besides ‘selfies’? Are we actually going to undertake anything significant, or is it all just bluster?

I bet Putin will see this and decide to leave the Crimea, taking the through the Ukraine route. I understand spring there can be so pretty.

So now 21st Century conflicts will be decided by who’s the biggest badass on social media?

I am not looking forward to seeing the so-called winners’ reaction once the infrastructure in which they are is reduced to radioactive scree.

Note to State Department-don’t forget to make some memes and save the world just like the Kony 2012 circle jerk.

I hope this idea catches on. Instead of Food Stamps and Section 8 Housing allowances, Obama can cut my taxes and in exchange I’ll post pictures of myself enjoying a good meal and curling up in my bed.
