Polls indicate Democrats will lose control of Senate

Polls indicate that Republicans likely will pick up the six seats they need to wrest control of the Senate.

The GOP has a strong shot at winning in seven toss-up states: Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana, New Hampshire and North Carolina.

Republicans need success in only about half, because they are expected to easily pick up seats in Montana and West Virginia and are favored in South Dakota.

“There’s no question we are facing headwinds,” acknowledged Long Island Democrat Rep. Steve Israel on electoral climate.

The open seat for retiring Iowa Democrat Tom Harkin is a toss-up. Harkin’s chosen successor, Rep. Bruce Braley, who has garnered support from the Clintons and Michelle Obama, is facing Jodi Ernst, a state senator and Iraq war Army veteran.

Its one thing to gain control of of Congress, but it’s something entirely different to use what’s been gained. There is no guarantee that the Republicans would actually be willing to use that control in a way that furthers their aims. Even when holding a majority, they act like they’re a party in the minority.

I’ll bet that if the Republicans capture the Senate, Mitch the Turtle will undo the nuclear option rules without ever beating the Democrats over their own heads with it.

Whew! Good thing the republicants are going to save the republic in the latest most important election of our lifetime.
I’m sure the weeping cheeto barkeep Johnny Boner and Mitch Rino are working feverishly on repealing sobamacare and closing the borders.
