Obama Seeks Death Blow to Economy With Absurd Carbon Proposal

Barack Obama

Not content with a contracting GDP, massive unemployment and the crushing effects of ObamaCare, Obama today will today announce ridiculous EPA regulations designed to destroy the economy under the guise of combating so-called climate change.

The Obama administration will seek to cut greenhouse gas emissions from existing power plants 30% from 2005 levels by 2030, potentially one of the biggest steps any country has taken to confront climate change, people familiar with the plan said Sunday.

Seen as the linchpin of President Obama’s climate campaign and a key part of his domestic policy legacy, the proposed power plant rule would set state-specific targets for carbon dioxide reductions and let local officials decide how best to meet the goals.

The proposal by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is intended to limit air pollution by carbon dioxide, a gas that traps heat in the atmosphere and drives global warming.

An army of strawmen are sure to make appearances as Obama scaremongers with his junk science and no doubt his compliant media will gush about how wonderful this is.

The complex rule, which will be officially announced Monday, faces a yearlong comment and review period. It is certain to spark a high-stakes legal and political battle that will echo through the November midterm election and beyond.

Opponents — including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the mining industry and congressional Republicans and Democrats from coal-producing states — have already lined up against it. Critics labeled it government overreach that would do little to reduce climate change while costing tens of billions of dollars and thousands of jobs.

“Now the president is once again looking to do through regulation what he couldn’t accomplish through legislation. But myself and others are sounding the real alarm of how the president’s plan will be dangerous for our economy and future job opportunities,” said Sen. James M. Inhofe (R-Okla.), citing a U.S. Chamber of Commerce report that estimated the rule could cost the economy $50 billion annually.

Only $50 billion a year? Why that’s only about the annual cost of Michelle Obama’s upkeep and vacations.

Sounding the alarm? How about defunding the EPA until they remember they’re not an autonomous organization.

Will he lead the way by cutting his speechgiving (filling the atmosphere with CO2, not to mention the overwhelming amounts of plane and helicopter exhaust) by 30% before leaving office? I could get behind that initiative.

Of course, it won’t actually be doing a damned thing to combat whatever the weather will be doing in the mean time, but who cares about reality, when I can FEEL like I’m making the world a better place? Isn’t that what Liberal groupthink and scientific consensus is all about?

I view this as great news. Anything Lyin’ Hawaiian can do between now and November to assure a Democratic rout is a welcome event, and significant increases in all Americans’ energy costs has gotta be right up toward the top of this Hindenburg agenda. Then, if anybody on the Republican side of the aisle grows a set of balls between now and Thanksgiving, we simply repeal everything. EVERYTHING.

This harkens back to the question is Obama is intentionally trying to destroy the nation.

Any 8th grader could muster enough critical thinking to be able to determine that with the economy stagnant and in fact shrinking, that foisting such idiotic costs on energy is not what one does to improve the economy.

I think the question has been answered.

This approach is the same tried by the ancient humanoids yet the ice sheets covering the continents melted anyway.
    It still won’t work.

I’m assuming they’ll use the Lois Lerner’s IRS to figure out the severity of those “state-specific requirements.”

Notice Sen. (WV D.) Joe Manchin’s big blow back on this? Don’t worry, neither did anyone else.

Billions of dollars wasted in order to possibly lower global atmospheric CO2 concentration a whole 1.5 ppm.

I am NOT optimistic, Americans are stupid ! While many, many were struggling to eat, FDR was burning potatoes and pouring milk down the sewer. The United States suffered through ten years of depression, but a supprising number of American still consider him to be God. Americans are brain dead.
