NY Times Gushes: Millions Losing Jobs Due to ObamaCare ‘Mostly a Good Thing’

The lengths people will go to do suck up to Obama. This is just pathetic.

The Congressional Budget Office estimated on Tuesday that the Affordable Care Act will reduce the number of full-time workers by 2.5 million over the next decade. That is mostly a good thing, a liberating result of the law. Of course, Republicans immediately tried to brand the findings as “devastating” and stark evidence of President Obama’s health care reform as a failure and a job killer. It is no such thing.

The report estimated that — thanks to an increase in insurance coverage under the act and the availability of subsidies to help pay the premiums — many workers who felt obliged to stay in a job that provided health benefits would now be able to leave those jobs or choose to work fewer hours than they otherwise would have. In other words, the report is about the choices workers can make when they are no longer tethered to an employer because of health benefits. The cumulative effect on the labor supply is the equivalent of 2.5 million fewer full-time workers by 2024.

It’s nonsense like this why even New York Times reporters are embarrassed by their own editorial page. It can’t be long until we return to to the good old days of funemployment.

So, let me get the Times theory on this correct. There are 2.5 million people who will now choose to lay back and let someone else pay for their healthcare. Right? You wouldn’t take this deal unless you were being subsidized since individual market coverage is more expensive for the unsubsidized than it was before. That really is an accomplishment worthy of this President. And, what becomes of the goods and services that these workers formerly produced to pay for their healthcare?

More proof that liberalism is a severely debilitating mental disease closing in on schizophrenia. A schizoid personality can rationalize any irrational thought, and democrats do this everyday.

You gripers are nuts. This isn’t about people sitting back being lazy. It is about people who WERE planning to retire before the age of 65 but found they could not due to the escalating cost of health insurance. Do you not realize how many of us old types stayed on in jobs we were planning to retire from because of INSURANCE???

this is great news. it is what I have said about healthcare all along: “cover people reasonably, and they will retire like they used to, freeing up jobs for those not employed.” This will put people on unemployment back in the workforce. It is a great thing.

You gripers are nuts. Do you not realize how many of us older people who had planned to retire before reaching age 65 suddenly found we could not due to skyrocketing health insurance costs? People were clinging to jobs they were planning to be retired from, thereby taking up spots that the graduating college crowd would have normally taken. Now these people can retire as they had planned, and those unemployed can find jobs. This is all good. stay tuned and you will see.

Comments #4 and #5 – 4 minutes apart, both start with the same sentence, and the rest is exactly the same, identical talking point, including the summary conclusion that this is good. Tell me that’s not faked and I’ll call you a liar.

I’m sure it’s not exclusively Democrats doing this, but f me, Organizing for America etc. and their campaigns to bend and rule public perception is frightening. It’s disingenuous enough when private enterprise does it, but when the propaganda arm of a sitting president is taking this under we’ve left the shallow end of the tyranny pool.

Uh, to Catalase/Sandi/or whoever that is cutting & pasting that tripe labeling me and others as “gripers” for seeing this dysfunctional mess for what it is… What portion of the (former) employees being “freed” from their hourly job, thanks to Obamacare, are senior citizens who didn’t want that job? 10 percent? 20 percent? Hell, I’ll play Devil’s advocate and give you 30 percent! So what’s your rosy excuse for the remaining 70 percent who are out of work now. What’s the “great news” angle for them? Huh?

Saddens me that people like you are out there voting.

I see the lying shill brigade is alive and well at #4 and #5.

Maybe she/he/it works for the NYT? Regardless, the entity in question is an idiot.

Great. Influx if more cheap labor into this country. Wow, I get to work, not stay home with kids, not go back to school, not retire, but work so even more can stay home because I wouldn’t want then strapped to a job like me. Is this a great country or what? Who wouldn’t come to this country illegally or legally?

Great. More cheap labor flooding into our country. If you need subsidies for obamacare you most likely aren’t working a high paid job. Another job ripe for picking by an illegal. Wow, someone can stay home with their kids, go back to school or simply retire while I continue working to pay for even more people who aren’t paying into the system. Is this a great country or what? No wonder so many illegals are working in this country.
