“I see no difference between eating animals and pedophilia”

Well, for starters eating animals is a long-standing tradition that provides nutrition. The other is criminal behavior and against all societal norms. But if you’re some washed-up crackpot musician, well, you can’t see the difference.

This surely sounds like a desperate appeal for attention, if anything.

You can always count on Morrissey to say something feather-rufflingly controversial.

You know, like comparing eating meat to paedophilia.

Which is exactly what he did during a Q&A interview on his fansite True-to-You.net.

“If you have access to YouTube, you should click on to what is called The video the meat industry doesn’t want you to see,” he told his followers.

“If this doesn’t affect you in a moral sense then you’re probably granite. I see no difference between eating animals and paedophilia. They are both rape, violence, murder.”

And, if you do eat meat, he’d treat you like one, too.

“If I’m introduced to anyone who eats beings, I walk away. Imagine, for example, if you were in a nightclub and someone said to you, ‘Hello, I enjoy bloodshed, throat-slitting and the destruction of life.’ Well, I doubt if you’d want to exchange phone numbers.”

He went on to give his favourite figure of derision, the Queen, another verbal flogging for wearing “electrocuted animals”. And Jamie Oliver. For cooking “flesh-food”:

“If Jamie ‘Orrible is so certain that flesh-food is tasty then why doesn’t he stick one of his children in a microwave?”

And then, because he’d seemingly run out of people to insult, he said this:

“If you believe in the abattoir then you would support Auschwitz. There’s no difference. People who would disagree with this statement have probably never been inside an abattoir.”

What a nutcase.

So, this guy actually compares eating meat to rape, pedophilia, bestiality, and the like. Being a rock “star” (no, I don’t listen to Morrissey) and a Democrat means nothing will happen to this wacko. Phil Robertson, who did not compare homosexuality with bestiality, needed to be punished.

    American culture is sick.

Love The Smiths, enjoyed a lot of Morrissey’s early solo stuff, but he’s lost his grip on reality. Shut up and sing, you miserable toe rag.

This situation will never happen to Morrissey. When there’s a club and if he’d like to go, where he might meet someone who really loves him, all he does is go and stand on his own, then leave on his own. Then he goes home, cries and wants to die.

No phone numbers exchanged, meat-eater or not.

Imagine, for example, if you were in a nightclub and someone said to you, ‘Hello, I have the power of the wish. On your beautiful authority, I am going to wish that no human ancestor ever ate any meat.’ Poof, all trace of human existence is wiped from the face of the earth.

Scott M.- Great response. Worth reading twice.

I do admire Morrisey’s ability to turn a lyrical phrase (e.g. “And the pain was enough to make a shy, bald Buddhist reflect and plan a mass murder,”) but never thought he should be given any attention when spewing about politics.

This is a man who was vocal in his criticism of Margaret Thatcher. When asked how he would feel if one of his fans killed the prime minister because of that criticism, Morrisey said, “Obviously I would have to marry that person.”

As Laura Ingraham puts it, shut up and sing.

I had to look him up online. Not like he was too far before my time, either. I’m 39. I had no idea who this dingleberry was. I thought Elvis Costello sang for the Smiths or something. All I knew about The Smiths was that that was the name on the black t-shirts that the dykey fat girls from the trailer park wore in high school.

The Margaret Thatcher comment was probably a career highlight. The Butcher sure did like pardoning soldiers who ‘accidentally’ bludgeoned and killed Catholic children. I could see where someone might not like that.

Dude looks like somebody’s aunt. The one who REALLY likes golf and Carhartt jackets and goes on vacation with her ‘roommate.’
