Former Member of Bloomberg’s Anti-Gun Group Explains Why He Left

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun group has been repeatedly embarrassed over the years when members of the group ran afoul of the law, with numerous offenses ranging from drunk driving to sex crimes to felony corruption. Typically these offenses were rarely reported by the anti-gun media. Well, now a former member of the group, the Mayor of Poughkeepsie, NY, let the cat out of the bag. The true motive behind this shady outfit all along has been gun confiscation. Of course, everyone knew this all along.

I’m no longer a member of MAIG. Why? Just as Ronald Reagan said of the Democratic Party, it left me. And I’m not alone: Nearly 50 pro-Second Amendment mayors have left the organization. They left for the same reason I did. MAIG became a vehicle for Bloomberg to promote his personal gun-control agenda — violating the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens and taking resources away from initiatives that could actually work to protect our neighborhoods and save precious lives.

A vehicle for the egomaniac Bloomberg to promote himself? You don’t say?

It did not take long to realize that MAIG’s agenda was much more than ridding felons of illegal guns; that under the guise of helping mayors facing a crime and drug epidemic, MAIG intended to promote confiscation of guns from law-abiding citizens. I don’t believe, never have believed and never will believe that public safety is enhanced by encroaching on our right to bear arms, and I will not be a part of any organization that does.

Since Bloomberg pretty much has limitless resources, he’ll still push confiscation while pretending he’s simply out there to help the children, or something. Never believe a word out of his mouth.

I’m not so sure all of this is motivated by mayoral beneficence, but more by a real fear that some city lampposts will be decorated with bloody Mayor corpses twisting in the wind.

Well, color me shocked. You mean to tell me that an “anti-gun group” wants to…confiscate guns?

    Say it ain’t so!

You have to love the irony in NY. The same state that passed anti-Second Amendment provisions in the middle of the night, as a faux emergency, that strips legal gun owners of their rights.
