Former Democrat Rising Star and Ex-Con Mel Reynolds Ordered Deported from Zimbabwe After Porn Arrest

How bad are things for these Chicago Democrats these days? Even Zimbabwe, the closest thing to Hell on Earth, wants nothing to do with them.

A Zimbabwean court on Friday ordered the deportation of former Illinois congressman Mel Reynolds after he pleaded guilty to staying in the southern African country on an expired visa.

Reynolds, 62, was arrested at a local hotel on Monday but has denied additional charges of possessing pornographic images and videos. That case was due to continue later on Friday.

Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe fined Reynolds $100 or five days in prison for the visa misdemeanor. His lawyer Arthur Gurira told the court the former Illinois congressman had suffered a mild stroke earlier this year.

The porn allegations are yet another mark on the sullied reputation of the former Rhodes scholar and one-time rising star in the Democratic Party, who was tried and jailed in the U.S. almost 20 years ago for having sex with an underage campaign worker and soliciting child pornography.

Zimbabwe state prosecutors charge that Reynolds had been caught with “nude pictures and videos of naked women and men having sexual intercourse” on his mobile phone, according to the copy of the charge sheet seen by Reuters.

Reynolds was arrested Monday at the Bronte Hotel in the capital city of Harare, a hotel manager told the Tribune.

“Gentlemen came in yesterday, they took him and related that they are police,” the manager, Mitchelin Thomas, said when reached by phone on Tuesday.

Mabika said Reynolds has been in Zimbabwe since November. Reynolds could not be reached for comment.

Well, at least this frees him up to run for Congress again this year.

The “journolists” will ignore it, Blue Hen, just as they ignored Menendez, and defended Slick Willy and that perv former mayor of San Diego.
