Nothing can keep Obama from focusing on his number one priority.
President Barack Obama has arrived in the Chicago area for an overnight stay and then a political fundraiser and a Northwestern University speech Thursday.
Air Force One landed this evening at Gary’s airport rather than in Chicago in order to avoid worsening traffic for airports recovering from disruptions caused by Friday’s arson at an air traffic control center.
The fundraiser at midday Thursday will support Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn, who is in a tough re-election race against Republican Bruce Rauner. Afterward, Obama will travel to Northwestern’s Cahn Auditorium in Evanston for a speech about the economy.
After the presidential helicopter landed near Soldier Field, Obama headed to RPM Steak in River North to dine with senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, businessman Martin Nesbitt, and other Chicago friends.
His presidency is in freefall, he can”t find time for national security briefings, the Secret Service is in disarray, but he’ll never, ever miss a fundraiser, or tee time, for that matter.
