de Blasio’s New York: Kids Found in Filthy Basement at Pre-K Hellhole

We hope the parents of these children sue the hell out of New York City.

A publicly funded Brooklyn pre-K program placed 4-year-olds in an illegal basement and had them take naps at a teacher’s nearby home — but has yet to face a single sanction from the city.

The shocking safety violations were only exposed after concerned dad Miguel Navedo took cellphone video of the illicit, dimly lit basement classroom at the I Love Me Early Childhood Center in Cypress Hills.

The center landed a three-year, $610,000 contract with the city this summer as part of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s fast-paced expansion of full-day, universal pre-K.

But officials promised the harried expansion would come with strict accountability — particularly on matters of safety.

“I don’t think they should be allowed to run a daycare center,” said Navedo, 28, who reported the violations to two city agencies in mid-October and pulled his daughter from the school. “Even if they don’t get shut down, I’d like something to happen.”

The father of three’s suspicions were roused after his daughter Jaemarie told him about spending the day in a dirty basement at her school.

The girl also told him about kids playing and napping on the carpet and bed of a teacher’s house — one block and two busy street crossings away.

Outraged, Navedo confronted school staffers while secretly recording the incident — and caught them lying that they didn’t have access to the basement because it belonged to the church next door.

A video posted online shows his daughter leading him from her first-floor classroom through a dark under-construction hallway, down a pitch-black staircase and toward a hanging blanket that’s hiding an entry door.

Inside, Navedo was stunned to find a dozen kids playing on floor mats in a narrow room that clearly wasn’t made for instruction. It had no desks for the kids, but did have hazards at every turn of the camera.

“The kids shouldn’t have been there,” said Navedo, who saw staffers clear out the basement within hours of his visit.

“They were being greedy,” he added. “They had all these kids so they could make extra money.”

Of course, nothing will happen. Parents will be thrown some money to hush up and the clown de Blasio will blame racism or something. A federal investigation would come crashing down on most any city, but de Blasio is a huge Obama suck-up, so he’s got nothing to fear.
