If we were in Congress we’d volunteer to be the one. Considering this tool has so little influence it’s almost assured his efforts will result in colossal failure.
Some people are really desperate for attention.
Bill Maher wants to try to oust a member of Congress from office by swaying voters opinions’ this November.
The host will announce the “flip the district” project on his HBO show “Real Time with Bill Maher” on Friday, according to the New York Times.
“There are a lot of terrible, entrenched congressmen out there,” Maher told the Times in an email. “We’re going to choose one of them, throw him or her into the national spotlight, and see if we can’t send him or her scuttling under the refrigerator on election night.”
Maher will ask viewers to pitch their individual representatives if they consider him or her to be the worst lawmaker in the country.
One will be selected, the Times reports, and Maher will visit his district to meddle in the race.
“This year, we are going to be entering into the exciting world of outright meddling with the political process,” Maher said.
Through November, Maher will outline examples of that lawmaker’s “terrible” work, and will travel to the district to perform stand-up.
Scott Carter, executive producer of Maher’s show, said in order to qualify, the member of Congress must be in a competitive race.
“We want the chance to win,” Carter said. The person can be a Republican or Democrat, but he added, “with our viewers voting, I imagine it is much more likely we will pick a Republican.”
Gee, you think?
