WaPo: ‘You will no longer be able to watch this baby panda online if the government shuts down’

State-run media at its worst.

You can watch the National Zoo’s yet un-named female panda cub be nursed by her mother Mei Xiang right now on the zoo’s panda cam. Go do it, I’ll wait. But if congressional leaders are unable to come to an agreement to avoid a government shutdown, the roughly half of federal employees who will be affected won’t even have the solace of watching the panda cub to distract them from their lack of paychecks.

Can the nation survive Obama’s government shutdown? Fortunately the pandas will survive Harry Reid’s mendacity:

The panda cam is sponsored by the Ford Motor Company, which isn’t (last time I checked) a government entity. Why can’t the panda cam be up since it is PRIVATELY paid for?! In fact, the national zoo takes donations to keep running as well as tax payer monies from the federal government. Too bad we can’t peek in on OUR new baby panda with her delighted mama but the exchanges are “up and (sort of, okay not at all) running.

Thanks JWF for the panda mention. FYI, there are three other zoos in our lovely country that have pandas and even cubs!!! Check them out, Mei Xiang and little girl will be there when the politicians come to their senses.
