Want to Keep Obama’s IRS Scandal in the News? Use Democrat Tactics Against Them

Posted by on May 16, 2013 at 11:10 am

Eventually the media will be sufficiently distracted by Team Obama to go cover other issues, so here’s an idea how the GOP can keep the Obama IRS Scandal in the news: Start parading the victims of the IRS witch-hunt before the cameras. Think about it. Whenever the Democrats want to push an issue, be it gun control, immigration reform, women’s issues  or healthcare, what do they do? They find “victims” to use in tear-jerking fashion in order to advance their agenda.

Consider who Victim Number One in their contrived War on Women was. Out of thin air they found a 30-year-old student in Sandra Fluke, who allegedly couldn’t fine nine bucks a month for contraception. She became a liberal folk hero overnight, especially after Rush Limbaugh called her a slut. Instantly she was a feminist icon, fielding calls from Barack Obama and appearing all over the news. Gun control? Gabby Giffords is the go-to victim more than two years after she was shot by a deranged psychopath. Her victimology has been used as a pretense for an assault on the Second Amendment. Immigration? They find some college kid who’s been here illegally for years and ask why he should be punished.

Healthcare? Anyone who can’t afford insurance premiums is a victim. Forget whether they need or want ObamaCare, as long as they have the talking points down they’re a victim.

Well, now here we have potentially thousands of real victims of IRS abuse, people who’s lives have been turned upside down because they have the temerity to believe in limited government and freedom. If you dared to be affiliated with a group using the word patriot, or, astoundingly, wanted to make America a better place to live, you were a target of Obama’s IRS.

Now while we’ve long had a distaste for the liberal culture of victimology, it’s time to fight back. So here’s a recommendation for the GOP and any groups that want to press the issue. Every day from here on out until we get the truth start parading victims before the cameras. Hold daily press conferences where Obama’s victims give tear-jerking stories about the abuse and horrors they’ve suffered at the hands of this onerous government bureaucracy. Heck, even a group like Christian Voices for Life was targeted. Roll them out for the cameras. Just imagine the photo op possibilities: A group dedicated to saving the lives of the unborn became victims of an oppressive government.

For too long the GOP and conservative groups have been playing catch-up in the public relations war. Now the opportunity to take the upper hand is here. And not only is there an opportunity to seize such a golden issues as IRS abuse, they should also enlist victims of the Benghazi cover-up. Outside of the media, the IRS is probably the most unpopular group in America. Run against them in the midterm elections and wrap them around the necks of the Democrats and Obama.

Make the Democrats defend the IRS. They were the ones calling for investigations of the Tea Party, so make them own it. It’s time to play hardball.

Boehner will talk tough, then realize he left his manhood at home (again).

Fox has been doing what you recommend. Greta had on a guy last night who helped start a Tea Party that the IRS had asked other Tea Parties how they knew him. BY NAME. So Greta showed he was victimized. She also had on the guy from the NOM whose donor list was leaked to the radical pro-gay group the Human Rights Campaign who published NOM’s donor list on its website. The NOM guy claimed a forensic investigation of the document the HRC posted came from the IRS. So he was also an IRS victim. And of course various Fox anchors have had relatives of Benghazi victims on a number of times.

But you’re only going to see that kind of stuff on Fox, where they’re already preaching to the choir. CNN may cooperate. MSNBC is pure propaganda. Good luck breaking through to CBS, NBC, and ABC. Charlie Rose’s interview program on PBS pretends to be objective, but he’s just a Democrat hack who disguises it better than the others.

The other problem is Obama has the bully pulpit. The MSM follow him around waiting for him to fart so they can report on it. The GOP does not have anybody in a position who can command that kind of press attention. Not Boehner. Not McConnell. Only a GOPer who says something politically incorrect or stupid gets covered.

The problem is the corrupt media.

Cavuto also had a great interview with the head of the Ohio Federation of Tea Parties. The questions asked on his application for tax-exempt status were straight out of the KGB.

How do you propose to keep this in the news when the opposition controls that too?

No one wants to get audited. If they can bug the House Cloak room, the Chicago mafia in the WH would surely still audit any public critics. I mean they(Obama) put a tax cheat in at head of Treasury. That’s like putting Ted Kaczynski as head of the ATF.
    They know no shame.

Top dogs need to call a presser. Prior to presser, leak something unrelated but “big” that will garner national attention. Hold presser and parade them out with victimization stories. Much like how Mitt Romney pulled the plug on that terminally ill cancer patient. Maybe even a whole lot of parodying and mocking the administration? Egomaniacs and narcissist do not like to be mocked!

Another tactic that would be useful (if it were to be used at all by the GOP) would be this: in every interview, particularly on the Sunday talk shows, say something like this: “That’s an interesting question, but would you kindly explain why the American public doesn’t know more about (insert wrongdoing by the Obama administration here)?”

“Why, when you delved so deeply into Mitt Romney’s past you were able to uncover an incident that occurred in high school, do you not know more about (wrongdoing)? Why do you tend to ignore facts that the American people should know in order to make informed decisions about whom they elect?”

    Rinse and repeat.

In addition to using their tactics you also need to use their vocabulary. In order to get the Low Info ears to perk up, you have to sound their own dog whistle.

The word of the day should be “Profiling.”

This was ideological profiling. It was deliberate, punitive, targeting of individuals based on their perceived ideology. How is that different than targeting for ‘special attention’ based on an ethnic type of name.

Is selective or enhanced enforcement OK based on ideology but not on skin color, lifestyle, or religion? Would communist or socialist affiliation now be acceptable for use in government screening procedures?

The fact that McCarthy was correct about his accusations wasn’t good enough back then. That sort of thing is good-to-go now? I just might make that trade off if we could interrogate current administration officials using polygraphs instead of teleprompters.

There is nothing innately pathetic about a pro-life adult being toyed with by the IRS the way there is about a single mom with cancer or some wide-eyed, brown-skinned little girl whose daddy has to go away to Mexico and never come back. This is why conservatives lose propaganda wars. Try again.

    Bravo Sir.

Rush is now relating the story of how Breitbart was moved to conservatism. You Sir have correctly picked up his torch and begun using their tactics against them. Just as during our glorious revolution, we must educate our bretheren and endeavor to sweep our opponents from the field. Only then we have done our duty.

“It does not take a majority to prevail. but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.” – Samuel Adams

    @# 14

You might change your nom de plume to Soulless Provacateur? More apt yet still pithy.

  12. Will Munny on 17/17/13 at 2:36 pm

You cannot assume that the IRS scandal is itself not a distraction, in this case to divert attention long enough to get amnesty passed. Why was the this scandal leaked and who did the leaking? The House just quietly announced agreement on a bipartisan path forward to legalization of illegals, and no one noticed.

Leftists play the long game. Enacting legislation that will guarantee the demographic change that will assure their permanent control of the government is worth any short term unpleasantness.

  13. Jaynie59 on 17/17/13 at 3:00 pm

While the Democrat-media complex will not report these stories there is no reason why the conservative blogs and news sites can’t do it. That’s all I use Facebook for. I link to or c/p conservative blog posts and articles to Facebook.

Will it make a difference? Probably not. Four of my Friends have Unfriended me since the election. But at least it’s something even though I know none of them read past the headline.

I hope this will become Obama’s “Pigford”. I think it’s even worse than “Pigford” because the government went after people to harm them. Conservatives have a far better case for compensation than did most of the African Americans who received “Pigford” payments.
