Treasury Secretary Lew: There’s a ‘Deficit of Confidence’ in the IRS

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

There’s a “deficit of confidence” in the Internal Revenue Service as a result of the agency’s increased pressure to certain groups applying for tax-exempt status, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said.

“It has to become a better customer service experience, it has to work well, and we know there’s a deficit of confidence now that has to be rebuilt and that will be the job for the new commissioner of the IRS,” Lew said during an appearance at the Aspen Ideas festival over the weekend.

Better customer service? Is he for real? Here’s a hint for you, Jackie boy: There will be no confidence in the IRS until those who illegally harassed conservative groups are prosecuted. Got that? So far we’ve had six weeks of lies and stonewalling. Some PR move to restore confidence isn’t going to cut it, OK?

Lew’s comments come as the agency seeks to do damage control after admitting that IRS personnel in the agency’s Cincinnati field office had been applying a higher level of scrutiny to groups applying for 501(c)4 status that had words like “Tea Party” and “patriots” in their names.

We’ve got a criminal political scandal like we’ve never seen before, and he’s more concerned with damage control. How can we know the depth of the damage when all these people do is lie and stonewall Congress?

Authorities admitted to a “deficit of confidence” in the prospect of a pack of rabid pit bulls being turned loose in a nursery.

Lew had better get his rear end in gear and do something about it– if he does nothing, he will be guilty of “accessory after the fact”. DEFUND the IRS NOW.

Maybe. But do you think for a nanosecond he actually cares?
