Apparently Chris Christie’s usefulness to Democrats only extends to his best bud Barack Obama, who’s sure to abandon the useful idiot come election time in November.
We’ve got our beefs with Christie, but claiming he prayed for the hurricane is stupid beyond belief.
On the eve of Gov. Chris Christie’s State of the State address, Senate Democratic leaders accused him of using Hurricane Sandy to gloss over the state’s pre-existing economic troubles.
Senate President Stephen Sweeney went as far as to say Christie “prayed a lot and got lucky” that a storm came. He then immediately apologized for the remark, but it still drew condemnation from Christie’s office and several Republican lawmakers.
“I think he’s conveniently using it to ignore these other problems. I think the governor did a very good job communicating and handling the storm,” said Sweeney (D-Gloucester) at a press conference this afternoon. “But these issues are still here and they can’t be ignored.”
Christie spokesman Michael Drewniak called the news conference “politics at its worst.”
“It was shocking to hear Senator Sweeney reduce Hurricane Sandy and its devastation to a heartless partisan attack. Ask the thousands of New Jerseyans whose homes or businesses were destroyed or damaged if they view Hurricane Sandy as a partisan political issue, or if this is what they want to hear from their leaders at this time of recovery as we fight for disaster aid in Washington,” he said in a statement. “No one ‘prayed’ for what New Jersey has endured.”
Following Drewniak’s statement, several GOP lawmakers issued press releases calling Sweeney’s statement “abusrd,” “offensive” and “unconscionable,” among other things.
Being unconscionable and offensive is all in a day’s work for a lowlife like Sweeney.
