As everyone whines about a verdict in Florida, the carnage continues unabated in Chicago. Where’s the justice for all those shot in Chicago? Apparently, nobody cares.
A 16-year-old boy was one of three people killed in shootings Sunday on the North, West and South sides of the city.
At least five other people were injured in shootings across the city that continued in this morning.
The most recent of the three fatal shootings happened about 11 p.m. in the West Side’s Lawndale neighborhood.
Two shooters opened fire on a man and a woman sitting in a vehicle in the 4000 block of West Cullerton Street, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said, citing preliminary information.
The man, who was 35 years old, died at Mount Sinai Hospital after being shot in the back, according to police. The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed it was notified of the death.
The man’s name has not been released pending notification of family.
The 37-year-old woman sitting with the man was also shot in the back, according to police. She was taken to Sinai, where she was listed in serious condition.
Earlier, in the Rogers Park neighborhood, a 22-year-old man was shot in the head at 3:43 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Jonquil Terrace, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien.
First responders found the man unresponsive on the sidewalk, police said. He died on the scene.
We guess this would be newsworthy if the 16-year-old was shot by a so-called white Hispanic. Meanwhile, the racism against whites continues.
At least 150 people gathered outside the Daley Center on Sunday to protest.
“I have a Trayvon,” said Linda Daniel, who is black and a teacher from Hyde Park. “My granddaughter lives in a completely white community. She could be another Trayvon Martin.”
She should probably get her out of there and moved her some place safe, like Chicago’s South Side. Oh, wait…
