The Absentee President: Obama Claims No Knowledge of NSA Spying on World Leaders

He must have just read about it in the papers. Sure, that’s believable.

The White House was unaware of National Security Agency surveillance targeting world leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and ordered the spy agency to cease some monitoring programs after learning of them, according to a report Sunday in The Wall Street Journal.

According to the paper, the White House first learned of the operations during an internal administration review over the summer. After their revelation, the White House ordered the NSA to halt some monitoring programs, including the one tracking Merkel. Other surveillance efforts are still winding down.

The Journal report contradicts a story in the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag that suggests that the president was personally briefed on the operation to monitor Merkel’s phone three years ago.

At what point doe this “he didn’t know” excuse expire?

It’s his job to know stuff like that. If he’s spying on foreign leaders and American citizens, why do we assume that he’s not spying on Republican House/Senate members?

President 45 knows: vacations, golfing, playing spades, gathering props for political events….ad nauseum. The knowledge of being President of this Republic is sadly missing. Moreover, the vaunted “fourth estate”has no knowledge of what the first Amendment means to an informed citizenry .The “..he did not know excuse…”will never expire for President 45 and his minions in the press.

Funny how the universe’s smartest man in history knows so little of everything while claiming to know so much.

Now I know this sounds unbelievable but it could be that Obama lies, he lies all the time for personal and political advantage. Sounds wild but it could just be that.

If he really didn’t know, then the NSA acted on its own, and the agency’s head should be fired.

But I really don’t think an operation like that would go ahead without his say-so.
