Stunner: Democrats Will Make So-Called ‘Immigration Reform’ a 2014 Issue If It Doesn’t Pass This Year

This has been the plan all along. They know this sham will likely not pass in the House so they can use the failure to call the GOP racist. It’s not as if we didn’t see this coming, just now they’re admitting it.

Democrats say immigration reform will be a campaign issue in 2014 if Republicans block an effort to create a path to citizenship for 11 million immigrants in the country illegally.

Immigration reform is President Obama’s top domestic initiative, and signing it into law would give him a significant second-term accomplishment, which eluded his predecessor, former President George W. Bush.

Failure would hand the president a major disappointment, but the silver lining is that it would give Democrats a powerful issue to wield in 2014 and 2016.

“I think it would be,” said Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), when asked if Democrats would make immigration reform a campaign issue if legislation stalls on Capitol Hill.

No matter what happens the GOP loses. They go along with this and they can kiss the base goodbye. They block it and they’ll be smeared daily between now and the 2014 midterms. Democrats, meanwhile, helpfully offer them advice, and we know they have their best interests in mind.

“Voting against this bill is a political disaster for the Republican Party,” said Jim Manley, a Democratic strategist working with the Campaign for an Accountable, Moral and Balanced Immigration Overhaul. “They need to be reminded there are sound policy reasons to vote for it but also significant political reasons as well.”

I look at it differently. I think the majority of regular (not the radical leftists) Americans don’t approve of mass amnesty, 10s of millions of new welfare & benefits recipients and no border security. Just like most Americans didn’t want Obamacare, then Dems got slaughtered in the mid-terms because of it.

Of course, if I’m wrong and this monster passes…..I’ll take special glee in telling all those newly minted Americans that I hope they enjoy what the liberals are leaving them: $20Trillion in debt by the time Bammy leaves office. They’ll get stuck paying the bill. They wanted America, they can have it!

Dems don’t want an agreement. They’ve ALWAYS been able to bash the GOP as racists why would they give up that sacred cow?

The House should pass a “comprehensive immigration reform” bill that starts with enforcement only – borders, visas, e-verify, end to sanctuary cities, and with a second phase currently left at “we’ll see”. If this enforcement effort works we’ll see what to do about the 11 million people here illegally, but nothing happens before we stop the flow of illegals. Either that becomes law, extremely unlikely, or the Dems kill CIR.

The Gang of Eight bill is a pack of lies. An informed GOP should welcome its defeat as an election issue. Most voters want beefed up border security which this bill does not provide. There is also great potential for a “We saved your job!” meme directed at blue and pink collar workers.
