Slow Night in Chicago: Only Eight Shot

After the carnage of this past weekend, only eight people getting shot must seem like a moral victory.

At least eight people were been shot Monday on the South and West Sides, authorities said.

The day’s shootings started about 1:15 p.m., when a 21-year-old man was shot in the 11000 block of South Ashland Avenue in the city’s Morgan Park neighborhood, police said.

The man was taken in serious-to-critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr., Hospital of Cook County, according to Chicago Fire Department Chief Juan Hernandez.

About 30 minutes later in the Englewood neighborhood, a man working at a Shell gas station in the 6600 block of South Wentworth Avenue said he called 911 when he saw the second gunshot victim ride up on his bicycle with a gunshot wound to his side.

No wonder Michelle Obama is proud to now call Ireland home.
