Racial healer Barack Obama was unavailable for comment.
A 6-year-old girl was wounded in the chest and a woman was wounded in the leg this evening in a shooting on the city’s Far South Side.
Shortly before 8 p.m., the girl suffered a wound to her chest on the 300 block of West 105th Street, said Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
The girl was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center, authorities said.
A 52-year-old woman was shot in her leg at the same location. She also was taken to Christ hospital where her condition has been stabilized.
Area resident Tasha Moore said about 40 people had gathered in the neighborhood as a memorial for a man they all knew who was shot and killed 5 years ago, Brandon Snype.
Moore said the girl was riding a scooter with a group of children when she was shot, though Moore did not see where the shots came from.
Many in the group ducked or ran away after the shots were fired, Moore said.
“It’s sad. It’s real sad,” Moore said. “They need to do something out here. Call the national guard in.”
At least six others were shot in Chicago yesterday, but it’s not politically useful for Obama to say anything about it.
