Signed Up for ObamaCare in California? Well, You May Not Be

The hits just keep on coming. As Obama prepares for his luxury vacation in Hawaii and the folks in his home state scramble to sign up again, we also learn today that out in California yet another glitch has affected at least 114,000 households. But don’t worry, mass confusion on the days before Christmas is no big deal. Obama will just waive his magic wand and everything will work out fine.

The agency that runs California’s health insurance exchange is scrambling to correct a technical problem that left blank spaces in eligibility notices mailed to nearly 114,000 households, leading to consumer confusion just days ahead of the application deadline.

A Covered California spokeswoman said Wednesday that the botched notices were mailed between Nov. 22 and Dec. 7. They went to people who had signed up under the state’s rollout of the federal Affordable Care Act.

In some cases, the notices said the applicant was eligible for coverage but not eligible for something else that was unspecified, with only a blank space at the end of the sentence. The forms also omitted other key details, including tax credit amounts and whether the person was eligible for Medicaid, the state and federal health insurance program for lower-income people.

Agency spokeswoman Anne Gonzales characterized it as a technical problem that left blank spaces where text was supposed to be.

“It led to some system-generated notices, and they were confusing to consumers,” she said. “We understand that.”

Corrected notices will be mailed to the 113,847 affected households when the problem is fixed, but she said she did not know when that might be.

Great. In the meantime, have that talk with your family about the joys of ObamaCare

In the meantime, the health exchange is urging applicants to go to its website to view their enrollment status, or contact the licensed insurance agent or assister who helped them sign up for coverage.

No biggie. Just go back to the same shitty website that took you two months to sign up on and Get Covered! We hate to be mean about this stuff, but there something deliciously ironic that in two states that overwhelmingly supported Obama people are being forced to interrupt their holidays and try to get their coverage fixed. You think they might reflect and think about their poor choice in the voting booth?

“You think they might reflect and think about their poor choice in the voting booth?”

Nope. My own wife has said that the failures are just because Republicans didn’t support Obamacare enough.

Apparently the only way to fix it is to get such a large majority that the country effectively become a dictatorship (or as the liberals put it, “allow the president to make choices” – as long as the president is not an evil racist Republican, of course)
