Shadow Government: Obama’s Appointees Using Secret Email Accounts, Demand $1M for Information

The Associated Press has been trying to uncover this information through FOIA requests. Remarkably, this incredibly corrupt administration demanded over a million dollars for the information. Wash that one around in your mind for a minute. Information from people whose salaries we pay is withheld and they have the balls to demand what basically is ransom for the information to which we are entitled. The fucking balls on these people.

Some of President Barack Obama’s political appointees, including the Cabinet secretary for the Health and Human Services Department, are using secret government email accounts they say are necessary to prevent their inboxes from being overwhelmed with unwanted messages, according to a review by The Associated Press.

The scope of using the secret accounts across government remains a mystery: Most U.S. agencies have failed to turn over lists of political appointees’ email addresses, which the AP sought under the Freedom of Information Act more than three months ago. The Labor Department initially asked the AP to pay more than $1 million for its email addresses.

The AP asked for the addresses following last year’s disclosures that the former administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency had used separate email accounts at work. The practice is separate from officials who use personal, non-government email accounts for work, which generally is discouraged – but often happens anyway – due to laws requiring that most federal records be preserved.

The secret email accounts complicate an agency’s legal responsibilities to find and turn over emails in response to congressional or internal investigations, civil lawsuits or public records requests because employees assigned to compile such responses would necessarily need to know about the accounts to search them. Secret accounts also drive perceptions that government officials are trying to hide actions or decisions.

So an administration already drenched in scandal now has another one on their hand. Of course like with any Obama scandal we’ll never find out who did what until they’re forced to testify, and even then, like with Fast & Furious, Benghazi and the IRS, nobody will fess up to anything. There’s no accountability whatsoever. You ask for information you’re entitled to and it’s like the line from Goodfellas: Fuck you, pay me.

How’s this for irony?

Obama pledged during his first week in office to make government more transparent and open. The nation’s signature open-records law, he said in a memo to his Cabinet, would be “administered with a clear presumption: In the face of doubt, openness prevails.”

Now what have we got?

I would say that’s it’s the Chicago way, but it’s far more pernicious. The local police force now will not provide a police report unless:

    1. They feel that there is a need
    2. You pay them for it.
    3. You go down to the police station and request it.

People complaining about improper stops are hindered since they don’t get access to the report unless the police department says they can. Or they force the issue. Not unlike how school districts are abusing children in the Holy name of zero tolerance and then hiding. They are exerting a stranglehold on information.

Ah, you beat me to it. I was gonna do the ‘You scratch our back, we’ll scratch yours. Besides, we got expenses, ya know?” thing.

The short version is that our government is no longer legitimate. What remains is the outward forms of legitimate government. It’s a shell, hiding nothing but corruption, death and destruction.
