Even is San Francisco they’re running as fast as they can from this failure.
Ticket sales for President Obama’s big fundraiser Monday at the SFJazz Center are so sluggish, organizers are cutting the price of some tickets in half.
The cheap seats for the Democratic National Committee luncheon — the ones that were going for $1,000 — have been reduced to $500, according to an e-mail to potential donors sent out Monday by Ella Arnold of Buell Private Political Management in San Francisco.
Arnold added, “We are thrilled to announce that if you have already purchased a $1,000 ticket … your seat will now be upgraded to VIP, which includes rope line access!”
We’re told organizers are even making deals on some the $15,000 tickets to the reception with the president, with prices dropping to as low as $10,000.
Arnold declined to comment Tuesday, and the Democratic National Committee did not immediately return our call.
Naturally there’s a reason other than ObamaCare for this humiliation:
One party fundraiser said it’s hard to say exactly what’s behind the waning interest, but he said it it probably wasn’t the uproar over the Affordable Care Act. Instead, our party insider said, progressive donors are disenchanted mainly over revelations about the National Security Agency’s spying on Americans’ phone records and over Obama’s refusal to kill the Keystone tar-sands oil pipeline project.
Sure, Keystone, that’s it. Meanwhile, they’re so hard up for money we’ve now received two emails from the DNC today trying to raiser money off Joe Biden’s birthday. Sheesh.
Guess whose birthday is tomorrow?
None other than Vice President Joe Biden’s! We’re putting together a card to send him our well wishes. Will you help us reach 25,000 signatures before the VP blows out his birthday candles tomorrow?
