Politico: Democrats’ United Front Cracks

Posted by on Oct 25, 2013 at 7:51 am

Alternate headline: The rats are jumping off the sinking ObamaCare ship. Remember all that talk about how damaged the GOP was after the Obama/Reid government shutdown? My, how things change in just a week. No longer able to obsess over Ted Cruz, the media realizes what a shambles the Democrats have become.

Good times. Let the backstabbing begin!

The great Democratic unity of 2013 held for five-and-a-half days.

For weeks leading up to the shutdown — and over the 16 days it dragged on — President Barack Obama did the unthinkable: he held every Democrat in the House and Senate together. There weren’t any defectors. There wasn’t even anyone running to reporters to question his strategy. The man who’d disappointed them so many times was suddenly exciting them, with his newly apparent backbone and successful resistance to Republicans. They were rushing to do whatever they could to stand by him, next to him, with him.

Like any fad, that’s gone the way of trucker hats and the macarena.

The problems with the Obamacare website have transformed the president from a man who seemed to have gotten a sudden infusion of political capital to a man who’s been pushed back on his heels. He was firm, and he was setting the agenda. Now he’s back to trying to beating back the latest frame Republicans have forced on him, inadvertently providing evidence to support the doubts they’ve been trying to sow from the beginning. He spent last week against the backdrop of a shutdown that made people appreciate all the things government can do for them. Now he has a website which shows how little it can.

Nobody was appreciative of what government can do for them. In fact, most people got along just fine. Now everyone realizes the government is trying to do way too much and want no part of it. So, Democrats, please run on a platform of more government and defending ObamaCare. That bloodbath of 2010 will seem tame by comparison come next November.

Holding and seeking power are the only reasons these congresspeople persist in their depravity. All congressional power resides in the committees. The majority party controls the committees. Keeping (or winning back) the majority is the only thing that really matters. The democratic senators will throw everything and everyone under the bus to preserve their slim majority. Right now they must work on the re-election of the red state senators whose heads are on the chopping block in 2014. You might also cast about for the next Jumpin’ Jim Jeffords or Arlen Specter. Are there any questions?

Um,”beating back the latest frame Republicans have forced on him”? Seriously? Obamacare is actually working and it is just the “frame” that Republicans have placed on it that is the problem? Own it, libs. Not a single Republican voted for this clusterfark that you all dumped on us.

And, as always, when the going gets tough, Barack the Petulant goes campaigning (two fundraisers in NYC via AF-1)….
that should do wonders for Friday traffic in and out of Manhattan.

@Drang: Well, it’s a “”frame” if you’re in the tank.

Politico is so deep in the tank they all have gills.

As we used to say in the 82nd ABN; “Their knees are in the breeze” either jump or stand down. They invented it, they passed it, they defended it, let them die with it. Oh, Graham won’t jump, but after he announces he won’t run again, watch “crash” [his actual Navy nickname after TWO in training] McCain come forward on immigration and amnesty to secure his “LEGACY”.

It is good to hear all these dem senators admitting the obamacare rollout was a compete mess, and we should have a 1 yr delay. But where were they on the day before the shutdown, when the repub house compromised on their defunding demand, and passed another compromise CR, that was willing to settle for a 1 yr delay, a delay that these same dems now admit is necessary. For daring to propose that 1 yr delay, the house were called terrorists, hostage takers, gun the our head, treasonous, etc, and these same dems voted with Reid/Obama to shutdown down the gov rather than accept that very sensible compromise, which would have saved everybody a lot of grief. So perhaps these dems owe the house and the tea party an apology. Now that they are calling for the same 1 yr delay those nutty tea partiers had been willing to settle for before the shutdown, maybe they should admit those tea party guys weren’t nutty after, but have been proven right.
