The practice of fracking oil wells began in the 1860′s; however, it did not really get going until the 1940′s. During WWII the United States needed to increase oil production. In the 1800′s most wells were close to the surface; a few hundred feet down. Still no problems with pollution of ground water. Today oil wells are thousands of feet down, with horizontal drilling, even less danger exists. The Arab countries do not want us to become energy independ, so they pay for bs movies about the dangers of fracking. As usual, follow the money.
