It’s a win-win.
The Democrats are throwing a fundraising shutdown party.
Vice President Joe Biden has dispatched an email to supporters slamming the Republicans over the budget and potential government shutdown that also seeks contributions to the Democratic Party of up to $2,000.
Shameless? Biden suggests it’s the Republicans who are the bad guys in the crisis, and he claims that they’ve given the party over to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who is leading the fight to defund Obamacare.
“One senator is running the show in the Republican Party right now,” wrote Biden in the email sent Sunday afternoon. “But for some reason I can’t understand, the Republican Party is letting Ted Cruz lead their charge against Obamacare — a law that they’re still fighting tooth and nail, despite the fact that every branch of the federal government has approved it, and despite the fact that we’re seeing real signs that it’s starting to work.”
Our email inbox was filled over the weekend by Democrats sending out missives like crack-smoking monkeys. A sampler:
Jammie — this afternoon, we told you that Republicans are hell-bent on hijacking President Obama’s second term.
Well, your grassroots response has been JAW-DROPPING! Just in the last couple hours, over 5,500 supporters have stepped up. That’s 40 donations a minute! We can hardly believe it!!!
If we can get 21,000 more donations in the next 24 hours, it would be a record-breaking show of support for President Obama at this critical moment.
They even half-heartedly “apologized” for the spam.
I know your inbox is getting flooded with emails today (sorry!). Here’s why:
Right now, the Republicans are effectively attempting to reverse the results of the 2012 elections. If President Obama refuses to block his own health care reform law and enact the Romney-Ryan agenda, the Republicans are threatening to shut down the government — or worse, cause a global financial crisis by defaulting on our debt.
Wait, the Romney-Ryan agenda? Did we just go back to the 2012 election? But wait, there’s more:
Jammie — it’s come down to this:
Late last night, House Republicans forced through their vote to hold the whole government hostage over Obamacare.
The White House has already threatened to veto their reckless plan.
Now, we need to back them up.
Will you help us reach 100,000 donations to our Obamacare Rapid Response Fund before tomorrow’s FEC fundraising deadline?
On and on it went all weekend long, looking to cah in on their planned government shutdown. Meanwhile, the GOP gets blamed.
