Obama’s America: Disabled Mother Forced to Choose Between Food and ObamaCare Premiums

Posted by on Oct 11, 2013 at 8:34 am

The media typically loves these stories of hardship, so long as they have some Republicans to blame. Remember when gas prices briefly surged during George W. Bush’s presidency? Day after day the nightly news led with tale s of woe, people agonizing over the cost of gas and how they may not have enough money to eat. Then when gas prices doubled under Obama it was completely ignored.

Well, now you have Americans suffering real pain thanks to ObamaCare, forced to shell out thousands of dollars they don’t have for a program that isn’t working. See if this woman appears on any of the network broadcasts. It won’t be happening.

“I feel it’s important for people to understand that the premiums aren’t affordable,” says Jennifer Most, a mother, who “told the crowd she went to the government website with all intentions of signing up … Jennifer and her husband are disabled, on a fixed income, and their five year old has a few medical problems as well,” the reporter explains.

The woman says, “My premium for health insurance was $947.63.”

“That is a over 765 dollars more than she currently pays,” says the reporter.

“It would take food out of our mouths to be able to afford these coverages,” the mother explains.

Well, sorry, Jennifer. Obama and the Democrats don’t care. You’re now a slave to them. It’s the LAW!

If you are not bleeding to death, buy food. If you are, take blood pressure medicine. It’s the doctor’s cure for everything!

It’s maddening. They keep talking about “choice,” about people having to choose whether to pay the premiums or the grocery bill. But the law doesn’t recognize a choice. The law says you buy the insurance or else!

I really wish they’d hammer this angle more. There is no choice!

Sadly, though I do not have to choose between food or health–my premiums as a self-employed individual are now $1590.00 per month. I used to pay $436 per month for five years until Ocare passed. The premium increased 32%. I couldn’t pay it. Then in 2012 the rate went to$ 841. per month and I still could not pay. 2013 rates were even more unbelievable because I would have paid 200% of my original rate and gotten less. $1590. a month got me no RX coverage, 2 visits no copay, $350. ER copay and I had to meet the deductible to avoid out of pocket costs.
Liberals think I’m lying and even if you point them to the ehealth.com and give them how many with sex and age, the cheapest policy in 2014 will be $1400.00.
All told, if I were to pay $1590.00 then add the $500.00 for meds that are not available in generics yet, it equals a mortgage payment.
The liberal I speak of told me that I should call a reporter because this “surely is a story” in a mocking tone. Assholes. It doesn’t fit in his Obama bucket, so he’ll mock me until he dies.

Here’s a tip Jennifer “on a fixed income”: Sell your laptop, ipod and the expensive Callaway golf umbrella.

So, why doesn’t she just stay on the plan she’s currently using? Seems like she doesn’t understand the law. You don’t have to switch insurance carriers, the web site is just a way to find coverage if you don’t have it (you can also go directly to providers.)

Most likely, their current policy does not meet the Obamacare minimum requirements, so their policy will be cancelled and they have to get a new, compliant, policy which costs more. After 01/01/14 insurance policies must comply with Obamacare requirements.

Nice job Max! You’ve figured out where she can get the money for approximately one month of premiums! Now, where’s the money for the next 11 months going to come from?

I just love “Progressives.” Whenever gas prices go way up, power rates go up, or some other private concern starts increasing prices, and lower income individuals start pointing out their difficulties meeting the increased expenses, “Progressives” are always ready to burn down businesses, lynch CEOs/businessowners, and demand that the government dole out taxpayer money with reckless abandon in the form of various assistance programs for lower-income individuals. They never think to ask if anybody with a lower income should look to cut other monthly expenses, even if there might be some expenses they could reasonably cut.

However, when the government passes a law that leads to dramatic price increases, or in this case, mandates the purchase of something at a much higher price, the answer a lower-income complainer gets from a “Progressive” is a much less friendly demand of austerity turned up to 11: “Shut up and quit complaining. YOU HAVE TO BUY INSURANCE, AND THAT’S WHAT IT COSTS NOW. IT’S THE LAW. Shut up and pay up. You don’t have the money? FU. Sell your computer, sell your car and ride the f’n bus. Sell your house and move to a cheap apartment. Sell the kid’s X-box. Drop cable and get a set of f’n rabbit ears, or better yet, sell your 52″ TV too. It’s your RESPONSIBILITY by LAW to get insurance, so shut up and pay.”

You ever tell chronically unemployed, inner-city welfare recipients to sell off any nice things they might have while they’re getting their checks, Max? Somehow, I doubt that you do……

As the media shines the light on folks like this, I want people to know, that some Americans just can’t afford the premiums and DON’T tell others about it. Some people may have a laptop but live on a very fixed income and to pay for medical insurance would mean no utilities(and still lack $450-$500 each month to pay for insurance)…meaning no groceries. Removing internet means $59 dollars more a month. Some people don’t have any give room…seriously. The government did not wish to help those on the bottom-it seems they wanted to force them to put their hands up and allow nanny state to pay for all.

In truth some people do not abuse the system and work very hard to pursue happiness in this great land. They ask for nothing in return and work hard to continue striving for what the Founders set up.

Unfortunately…the whiners take spotlight. I say enough is enough.

This is all intentional — a bridge to single payer. There are already rumblings about it.

The Left wants control. Nothing more than total, absolute control.

And why worry? It’s not like the Left has outed itself as intolerant, as willing to use the IRS, EPA, and NSA as bludgeons, right? Not like this President has called out his political opposition party as evil, right?

Look at the monument closings, the closing of the White House Tours — why WOULDN’T you want these petty, thin-skinned tyrants-in-waiting in charge of your health?

And the Media is complicit in all of this. They are as much an enemy as the Left, or lying partisan shills like Max …
