Obama Pals Visit Cuba: ‘People are fighting for their freedom. It’s extremely insensitive’

We suspect these useful idiots haven’t got the slightest idea what has gone on in Cuba the past 50 years. Besides, we can’t criticize them because racist.

Pictures showing Beyonce and Jay-Z sauntering down a street in Havana, Cuba and taking in the island’s nightlife have sparked outrage among activists appalled that the powercouple could vacation in a country known for its oppressive regime.

The Carters took a jaunt to the Communist nation this week to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary but many wonder why the A-listers decided on a place known for extreme poverty and repression of political dissidents.

The rap-mogul and his superstar wife are close friends of President Obama and both had prominent roles mobilizing young voters during Obama’s presidential campaigns.

The 31-year-old sex symbol even sang, though she was technically lip synching, the national anthem at Mr Obama’s 2013 inauguration and for his 2009 inauguration she sang while the president danced with First Lady Michelle Obama at a ball during the celebration.

Since the jet-setters have politically tied themselves to the 44th president and could literally select any location in the world to travel, why would they decide on a such a controversial destination?

The U.S. State Department classifies Cuba as ‘an authoritarian state that routinely employs repressive methods against internal dissent’ and does not have diplomatic relations with the government, now lead by Fidel Castro’s brother Raúl.

The vacation has left one human rights activist in a state of disbelief.

‘There are women getting beaten on a daily basis, women who are jailed for no reason…people are fighting for their freedom. It’s extremely insensitive,’ Mauricio Claver-Carone, from the U.S.- Cuban Democracy Political Action Committee, told TMZ.

Friends of Obama have special privileges. Doesn’t anyone realize they’re all above the law?

When you got that swagger you can go to Cuba. Maybe Barry’s buddies are seeing how a glorious socialist utopia is supposed to function? They are seeing the high quality health care that is coming to a fading banana republik near you?

Two members of Congress from Florida are looking into how hip hop royals Beyonce and Jay-Z ended in Cuba this week.

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart sent a letter to Adam Szubin, director of the Office of Foreign Assets Control at the Treasury Department, on Friday asking for more information about the celebrity couple’s trip, which coincided with their fifth wedding anniversary.

An excerpt from the letter, which is posted on Ros-Lehtinen’s website, reads:

We write to express concern and to request information regarding the highly publicized trip by U.S. musicians Beyoncé Knowles-Carter (Beyoncé) and Shawn Carter (Jay-Z) to Cuba. We would like to respectfully request, within all applicable rules and guidelines, information regarding the type of license that Beyoncé and Jay-Z received, for what purpose, and who approved such travel.

As you know, U.S. law expressly prohibits the licensing of financial transactions for “tourist activities” in Cuba (Section 910(b)(1) of the Trade Sanctions Reform and Export Enhancement Act).

A rep for the stars didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
