NYC Occu-Bomb Suspect: Hey, I’m Just a Sportsman or Something

This lowlife was busted with enough explosives that police evacuated buildings in the neighborhood. But if we’re to believe the creep he’s just some innocent, non-political naif who was just playing around. The sad thing is most of the media, if they even bother to report that one of their darling Occupiers is a terrorist, will probably rally around him.

He says he’s a “sportsman” — not a terrorist.

Aaron Greene, who was arrested with his pregnant Dalton School- grad girlfriend after cops found explosive powder, shotguns, ammo and a “Terrorist Encyclopedia” in their Greenwich Village apartment, yesterday told The Post that the bombmaking material was for an “experiment” — not a terror plot.

“It was a very small amount of experimental fireworks,” Greene, 31, said at Rikers Island, where he has been held without bail after police discovered seven grams of explosive powder HMTD in the couple’s West Ninth Street pad Saturday.

“I was going to take it out in the country and try it out — just an experiment,” said Greene.

“I’m not involved in any political causes,” said Greene. “I’m a good person, despite all that’s been said . . . I had no intention of doing damage or hurting anyone.”

Sure, that’s believable.

But the son of prominent architectural restorer Jeff Greene was previously sentenced to a year in prison for stabbing a Lower East Side bouncer in 2005. Last year, he was sentenced to five months in jail after he and girlfriend Morgan Gliedman, 27, were spotted in a car with heroin inside, and a Ruger Mini-14 assault rifle in the trunk.

So how is it in Mike Bloomberg’s New York that a guy with a record who’s busted with heroin and a so-called “assault rifle” only get five months in jail? Could it be he has some connections?

Meanwhile, ABC News, which rushed to call Aurora shooter James Holmes a Tea Party member, curiously made no mention of this guy’s association with the OWS movement. Funny how that works, huh?

    “a Ruger Mini-14 assault rifle”

WHOOHOO!!!! I OWN AN ASSAULT RIFLE!!!

When I bought it, it was just an ordinary semi-auto rifle. It doesn’t even LOOK like an “assault rifle”; its silhouette is indistinguishable from a bolt-action rifle.

I’m so proud of how it’s grown up.

If true, I abhor this couple’s politics, but I own a similar “arsenal” and possess similar reading materials. I can also imagine cheffing up some hmtd for fun, albeit I wouldn’t do it in NYC but rather out in the country. If you go to YouTube, you can find 100s of videos of people detonating small hmtd explosions just for fun. All of which is to say that unless there is a conspiracy charge we haven’t heard about, I don’t these two have done very much wrong in this regard – roughly the same as having a bunch of firecrackers and 60 oz sodas in NYC.

@Rob – Apparently to the Post, ANY rifle found inside Manhattan is an “Assault Rifle”. Bolt-action Enfield chanbered for .22LR? Aaaaaasault Rifle!!!!!!11!!1!!eleventy!

If he is a convicted felon, it is a 10 year, Federal offense for each firearm and each bullet in his possession. Unless, of course, the Justice Department chooses not to prosecute. Which would be their typical approach to gun control law violations.

HUH just like that subway pusher he claims to use as rationality

They may just be run-of-the-mill spoiled, rich, young left wing heroin addicts who are avid sportsmen, but if we can’t pounce on a story like this by calling them degenerate left wing terrorists, then conservatives are weapons-grade stupid. As much as I loathe the idea of behaving like the left, it works for them, and nothing we do does.

@prefounder – I own a farm, so that’s where in the country I’d go. My point was that I can understand how a farmer keeping a few sticks of dynamite in a shed 100 acres from anyone is different from a farmer storing a few sticks of dynamite in an apartment building surrounded by others, so I can certainly understand zoning restrictions, but generally speaking I don’t think we do ourselves any favors by suggesting that citified left-wing nut jobs can’t safely possess firearms or a tiny amount of explosives but countrified right-wing nut jobs can. How about we have a government that prosecutes people who hurt others and otherwise leaves us, our weapons, and our firecrackers alone, regardless of whether or not our political speech suits one side or the other?

    Leejo,
Am sorry to have given you impression was reacting to what you had posted, I wasn’t.
I find it odd/handy that a 31 yr old subway pusher claimed she
was antimuz and has been beating them up since, now a another tard says they are just…. would go out to country ( where ofcourse everyone makes bombs ) lives….
This is what they and I do mean they have created psychotic idiots that if they lie like obambi does blah blah blah.
Am sorry it is all too inane and so damn tiresome.
I do not pray for them to seek wisdom, I pray that they reep what they sow.

So if they were just going out to the country to experiment with a little explosives, why’d they have it mixed up at home? Wouldn’t a sane person wait until they were at the test site to create the mix? That way you wouldn’t have to drive who-knows how far with a possibly unstable explosive in your car.

Even the Mythbusters wait until the last minute to mix “blur” with “blur”.

    He’s invoked the Gregory exception

    He’s got juice and :

“I had no intention of doing damage or hurting anyone.”

See, if you have juice and people argue you didn’t have intent, then you can possess a high-capacity magazine in DC or firearms and explosives in Bloomberg’s NYC.

Move a long, nothing to see here.

    11. Rob Crawford,

How dare you question him? He’s a Harvard graduate, don’t you know? He attended the Kennedy School of Government. He has an eeeeelite education.

    Howdy JKB
Many, many moons ago, a Boston prosecutor convicted a Harvard professor of murder. Later, he was cross-examining another professor and the judge remonstrated, “Don’t you realize the witness is a Harvard professor?”
“Yes, I know. We hanged one last month.” was the reply, or something about like that.l

Hope this guy is getting tons of man-love at Rikers. He seems the sort that wouldn’t mind the incarcerated getting their due.

Good thing this urban-adventurer wasn’t in possession of a Big Gulp 32 oz soda…
