NY Times Poll: 58% Disapprove of Obama’s Horrible Economic Job

Somehow 37% of the public still approves of Obama’s disastrous handling of the economy. We wonder how bad it really has to get before the Koolaid drinkers abandon him? Still, the Times tries to sugarcoat it, of course.

Last week’s reports of hopeful economic indicators did nothing to improve the American public’s negative opinion of President Obama’s stewardship of the nation’s economy. However, while most Americans describe the economy as in bad condition, there has been a slight uptick in the number who view the nation’s fiscal circumstances positively, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

The poll found 37 percent of those surveyed approve of Mr. Obama’s handling of the economy; 58 percent disapprove. These numbers are indistinguishable from the results of a CBS News poll taken last month, although better-than-expected unemployment numbers and other positive economic data were released last week. Interviewing for the nationwide poll was conducted Thursday through Sunday.

They continue to ignore the fact these unemployment number are bogus and don’t count people who’s given up looking for work. If the media was honest about what a mess we’re in it would be hard to fathom how he’d be even at 20% approval.

There’s more to come from them tonight, apparently.

Still, 61 percent regard the economy negatively, including a majority of all age and income levels, most independents and 80 percent of Republicans. Only among Democrats, people with a postgraduate education and blacks do a majority regard the economy as good.

There is division on whether the economy is improving or deteriorating, with about 3 in 10 each holding that view. Among the 42 percent who describe the economy’s trajectory as holding steady, about a third said it was in good shape while 6 in 10 said it was in poor condition.

The telephone poll of 1,000 adults has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points. More results from this survey will be released on nytimes.com after 6:30 p.m.

It must be really bad for Obama if they’re waiting until tonight.

Bottom line — do average Americans feel like the economy is improving, regardless of what the numbers say. (I seem to recall the Dems taking about this 8 years ago when the UE was significantly better than it is now.) Unless people feel like their personal situation has gotten better, then the public sentiment about the economy is not going to improve.

We’re probably going to get to find out exactly how bad the economy has to get before O’bama loses that 37%.

It’s telling that those who don’t have nor expect to get real jobs (i.e. the poor and the bureaucrats who shovel money to them) are the ones who don’t see anything wrong with the economy. As long as there is slop in the trough, they figure everything is fine.

So, as I see it. The only people left who think of Obama’s economy as “good” are LIV’s and College Professor’s who can’t be fired.

Bloody hell. Back when W presided over a 5.4% unemployment rate, the same media whistling a happy tune now was then droning on and on and on about “the jobless recovery.” Hey, CBS, come and talk to my husband, who lost a 25-year IT career in 2008 and was “too old” to be hired, was willing to take work as a security guard, and lost THAT when he caught a colleague sleeping on duty – who promptly accused him of sexual harassment. EneMedia GO TO HELL. G-d, I miss Andrew Breitbart.

So true. I would love for someone to go back to lexis/nexis and correlate the headlines for O and W with the unemployment rate. That would be instructive.

BTW, the other thing the MSM droned on and on about was W’s approval rating. If it ticked down 0.1%, it was headline news. These days I only hear crickets when it comes to O’s approval rating.

Another thing the media does not talk about is that 75% of all the military deaths in Afghanistan have happened under King Barky the Killer…in about half the time.
