It wasn’t hackers, you idiots. It was drive-by rubbernecking to look at the wreckage. It’s so obvious as this mess began Tuesday people wanted to see what a trainwreck it was so out of curiosity many people went on to these sites. Everyone knew it would be a mess, so the extra traffic likely created an even bigger one. But that doesn’t explain why they’re still not working two days later.
So along come some “experts” concocting wild tales of so-called hackers unhappy with ObamaCare being to blame. Anything but pointing to the reality this was not ready to go. Heck, even their own navigators admit what a clusterfuck this is.
The NY State of Health site recorded an astounding 10 million visits after opening for business Tuesday — although there are only about 1.1 million state residents without health insurance and just 330,000 are expected to buy ObamaCare for next year.
By comparison, the federal government’s heavily promoted HealthCare.gov site — a portal to the sites for all 50 states, the District of Columbia and America’s territories and commonwealths — drew just 4.7 million visitors the first day.
Late Tuesday, NY State of Health Executive Director Donna Frescatore said technicians were “looking into the cause of this abnormally high traffic.”
Darien Kindlund, manager of threat intelligence for the FireEye network-security company, said “the sheer volume” of visits to New York’s site pointed to a possible “distributed denial of service,” or DDoS attack, in which virus-infected computers bombard a site with traffic.
“The numbers are fairly compelling,” Kindlund said.
Hemant Jain, vice president of engineering for Fortinet, a network-security firm, said that “because [ObamaCare] is such a political issue, it could very well be a DDoS attack.”
Here’s the reality. In California they wildly exaggerated the number of visitors to their site, so it’s quite likely the claim of 10 million visitors in New York is also a gross overstatement. But they can never admit Obama’s failures, so it’s simply easier to pretend some malicious anti-ObamaCare hackers were at work. They’ll never be able to prove it because it didn’t happen, but it gives the Obama zombie conspiracy loons something to blame the failures on, rather than on Obama’s incompetence.
