Miss Utah Contestant Arrested for Throwing Homemade Bombs

They just never look as good in their mugshots.

Miss Riverton, crowned in June and set to compete in the Miss Utah pageant, was arrested early Saturday morning along with her three friends after allegedly throwing homemade bombs at people and homes.

A probable cause statement released by the Salt Lake County Jail states that Miss Riverton, Kendra Gill, as well as Bryce Stone, Shanna Smith and John Reagh, admitted to buying plastic bottles, aluminum foil and household chemicals at a local store before building the bombs and throwing them from their car near 13800 South 4100 West and other Riverton neighborhoods. Witnesses reported people throwing the devices from a dark gray or black vehicle Stone was driving late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

“They were throwing them at both property and people,” said Unified Fire Authority Capt. Clint Mecham. “This goes well beyond a teenage prank.”

Salt Lake County bomb and arson investigators are looking into a possible motive, but Stone, according to the records, said he and his friends were “‘pranking'” with fireworks with friends.” One home that was allegedly targeted was that of Stone’s ex-girlfriend.

Investigators found remnants of the bombs, all of which detonated and were strewn in Riverton roads and driveways.

None of the bombs hurt anyone but they could have easily maimed or killed anyone they exploded near, Mecham said.

“They’re very caustic, very nasty. So they can cause injury to somebody just if the chemicals get on somebody, much less the fragmentation of the shrapnel damage that can be caused,” Mecham said. “They can very easily cause serious harm or even death.”

Oh for crying out loud; I know exactly what she and her boy had made.

I won’t say what these are called, but suffice to say, these are not ‘bombs’ per se, more like very loud noise makers. When a certain chemical commonly found in hardware stores is placed in a sealed bottle with little wadded up balls of aluminum, the resultant mixture produces a gas that continues to form until the pressure becomes such that the bottle bursts; about as loud as a shotgun blast.

What she and her boy were doing was more prankster than anything else. the likelihood of anyone getting harmed in any way was very slim. Go look on youtube; people make and video these things all the time.

#1….so if a small child were to run out and pick one up before it went off , you wouldn’t be at all alarmed, just a harmless prank, what’s a missing eye or two, right? Just a harmless chemical reaction? Then stick one in your pie-hole and post that video.

Hey Doc; go fuck yourself. Did you see the part about it being done ‘early Saturday morning’ aka the middle of the night? What kids are we talking about who are roaming around at 3:00am dipshit? Trayvon Martin?
