Mike Bloomberg’s Gun Control Paradise: Sandy-Ravaged Staten Islanders Fend Off Looters With Rakes and Sticks

Five months after Hurricane Sandy leveled portions of Staten Island and Barack Obama pledged immediate assistance, many of the residents are still living in tents, with some being terrorized by squatters and looters. Probably remnants of the Occupy Wall Street mob branching out. Yet since Staten Island is part of New York City, the poor bastards don’t even have the weaponry to fight off the marauders.

Mini-Mayor Doomberg is busy playing footsie with Obama today as they work feverishly to disarm the public. It’s a shame neither of them have the time to help protect the citizens of Staten Island.

Staten Island residents already suffering from the ravages of Hurricane Sandy say they are now seeing their neighborhoods infiltrated by squatters and looters.

As CBS 2’s Dick Brennan reported Wednesday, when darkness sets in on Wavecrest Street in New Dorp, people say squatters make their move – crashing empty homes wrecked by the hurricane.

“They just go in there late at night when nobody is supposed to be looking, and they just flop in the house and sleep in there, wherever,” resident Steven Sumner said.

Residents said the squatters are most attracted to homes that have electricity.

But Sumner said it is not just the squatters, but the looters, too. They have tried to break into his Sandy-ravaged home next to the trailer where he has been living temporarily.

But he said he has managed to fight back, with many different weapons, including a cane, a baseball bat, two rakes, and a stick.

When asked if the weapons work, Sumner said they usually do not.

This is Obama’s Vision for America. The citizenry fending off the savages using rakes and canes. Is they dared to protect themselves using their Second Amendment rights they’d be prosecuted. Since Sandy hit Obama has taken approximately 37 vacations, while Bloomberg jets off to Bermuda with his armed entourage every chance he gets. A shame these folks can’t get a break.

You know, I love bashing OWS as much as the next guy. But after Hurricane Sandy, they descended upon the area and helped out. They helped coordinate food & supplies delivery and were runners taking supplies to houses that weren’t convenient for FEMA. They deserve to be called a lot of things, but in this instance they were the good guys.

If you give them a purpose, instead of just anger at the world, they might make something of themselves.

I had suspected this but had not heard or read about it before now. Thanks for this thread. This is an untold story and more people need to hear it. You’re right about it being a consequence – and goal – of liberal Democrats and their efforts to make us dependent and disarmed.

On the OWS. I think they were limelighted in the press for their efforts, but much more heavy lifting was done by religious and private service organizations, but were pointedly ignored. I am not degrading OWS efforts such as they were. But even this instance the press studiously ignored private citizens acting with greater impact. They play their memes dutifully.
