Sure they have a deep bench. That’s why they were pinning their hopes on an unhinged woman who lives in Tennessee to challenge incumbent Senator Mitch McConnell.
Ashley Judd decided not to challenge Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., to the dismay of a controversial liberal super PAC, which expressed hope that she will at least campaign against him.
“Today, we learned that Judd will not seek the Senate seat,” Progress Kentucky executive director Shawn Reilly said in a statement. “Her announcement is disappointing news to many who saw her as a winning candidate. Fortunately, we have a deep bench.”
Reilly added that he hopes Judd “will put her time, talent and treasure into the job of defeating Mitch McConnell, because that is something that will take all of us working together.”
She put so much of her time into defeating McConnell that she was a no-show in the state where she was supposedly planning to run. As to that deep bench, is there anyone who can name someone from it? Five bucks to anyone who can name the next challenger. Ask Ms. Judd for the money if you have an answer. She’s the one with the treasure. Not that we tend to offer advice to Democrats, but their treasure might be better spent defending vulnerable seats rather than pursuing the fantasy of winning in a deep-red state. Just a thought.
