“I have a dog that’s on hunger strike”

You know, Puffy, maybe the dog is trying to tell you something.

Ashley Judd fueled chatter about a possible Senate bid – and gave Republicans fodder to use against her – with a quirky, informal speech on women’s health in Washington on Friday.

Speaking in a stream of consciousness style, the actress talked about her personal development as an activist and living as a “three time survivor of rape.”

Judd, 44, has been publicly flirting with a bid for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s seat representing her native state of Kentucky.

Her speech was peppered with a series of eccentric asides that raised some political pundits’ eyebrows.

“I have a dog that’s on hunger strike,” she said at one point. “He only wants cheese.”

She sounds insane. In other words, a model Democrat.

She also touched on religion and the challenge of maintaining her faith, saying that working with suffering people can be “like a spiritual death.”

Kentucky Democrats are obviously hard up. They can’t find themselves a sane candidate?

Unfortunately we live in such a celebrity-obsessed culture that many people in Kentucky would probably vote for her.

Perhaps it’s all part of a reality show. If she gets elected just think of the comedy potential with her and Al Franken together in the worlds’ “greatest deliberative body.”

Someone should talk to Ms. Judd’s dog. Maybe it is responsible for her foolishness. Can we reason with the dog? If it has any influence over her maybe we can bribe it with cheese and make it tell her to stay out of politics.

What in Satan’s Unholy name does a finicky dog have to do with public policy? Did anyone ask her if she was a witch?

No doubt, this will be explained away.
