Heartwarming: Marine Blows Away Truck Thief Who Pulled Gun on Him

It’s a good thing he wasn’t in a so-called gun-free zone.

A suspected truck thief was shot and killed in Maple Valley Tuesday morning after deputies say he was shot by the truck’s owner, a United States Marine.

It happened just after midnight in the 23600 block of 219th Place SE.

King County sheriff’s deputies say a man and a woman arrived at the scene in another vehicle that was stolen from Kent. The pair was allegedly trying to steal or prowl a pickup truck when the owner came out from a family gathering and confronted them.

Kristen Hague says the gathering was at her house and the truck belongs to her nephew, Keenan, a 24-year-old Marine. Hague says they spotted the would-be thieves and he confronted them.

“All I heard were gunshots, then I came outside and the man and woman were trying to drive away but the car wouldn’t go,” Hague gets emotional talking about what happened next. She says the male passenger stood up with a weapon.

“Keenan yelled ‘gun’, and he pushed me to the ground to protect me,” said Hague. She says that’s when shots were exchanged. “He did it to protect me. He loves his aunt.”

Hague performed CPR on the suspected thief and put pressure on his bullet wounds, but he did not survive.

Oh well.

If the lefties had there way in Washington State, they would make it all gun free. Fortunately (while close) Maple Valley is not Seattle.

Good for them. I am a bit confused .. first gun shots, she comes out side then the bad guy pulls a gun hero pushes her down and takes out bad guy.

First gun shots were ? This happen in chicago? That would explain the non relevant gun shots. I know it happened near Seattle.. but
    What were those first shots?

Yup, lots of “Rednecks” in Maple Valley, clinging to their guns and religion. Unfortunately, there’s been a lot of recent development with larger, more upscale homes built in that area that liberals from Seattle have sprawled into because they can’t afford real estate in Seattle. (Kind of like how WA got invaded by Californians a couple of decades ago). So I think that area is turning more purplish now. Anyways, I’m glad this man was armed. Not mentioned in that article was that the pair of thieves who were trying to steal the truck, and whom I am sure were just “starting to turn their lives around”, had driven there in another stolen car.

I would have been tempted to “perform CPR & apply direct pressure on the wound” with the heel of my boot.
Good job, Marine. You just helped improve the species.

I’m confused too. Did the Marine perhaps fire warning shots for some reason, and then the thief was foolish enough to pull a gun?
The more I read, the more convinced I am that I would have risen straight to the top in journalism.

Good thing the marine was off-duty and not at a military installation where carrying a weapon and being able to respond to an attacker is verboten. Lord knows we wouldn’t want our military to respond to direct assaults, right?

“Gentleman! You can’t fight in here. This is the war room!”
