Gallup: Americans Want Jobs, Give Gun Control and Immigration Reform Lowest Priority

Posted by on May 08, 2013 at 8:28 am

After months spent distracting Americans with their relentless anti-Second Amendment blitzkrieg, this news must be very disturbing for Democrats and their media hand-maidens. Not that the desires of Americans matter much to them since all they’re concerned with is holding on to power and eradicating your rights.

Americans put reforming immigration and reducing gun violence — the focus of much of the attention on Capitol Hill in recent weeks — at the bottom of a list of 12 priorities for Congress and the president to address. Americans instead say leaders in Washington should give highest priority to jobs and the economy, followed by making government work more efficiently and improving the quality of education.

So what dominates the news 24/7 is of little to no interest for the public. And the media wonders why people are tuning them out in droves.

These data are from Gallup Daily tracking conducted May 4-5, in the midst of continuing disagreements on how to reform the nation’s immigration laws, and highly contentious lobbying on the part of gun control groups and the National Rifle Association on the issue of gun laws. But these arguments clearly do not reflect the average American’s views on what should occupy the time of those in Washington. The roughly half of Americans who indicate they would like Congress and the president to make reducing gun violence and reforming immigration top priorities is more than 30 percentage points lower than the 86% who say creating jobs and growing the economy should be a top or a high priority.

So much for that bogus 90% statistic Obama and the Democrats toss around. Again, it should be stressed the top two items Democrats (and some Republicans) are obsessing over are at the bottom of the pile. Notice also another of the left’s obsessions — so-called climate change — doesn’t even merit a mention. This should send a strong message to the GOP to ignore the dire warnings coming from the same folks pushing these issues and focus on the economy. It’s a winning message, as Mark Sanford demonstrated last night. But you can guarantee one thing: The media will bury this story since it doesn’t fit the narrative.

    Well, Obama already lowered unemployment.

    Oh. He didn’t?

Well, there you go. You are a racist now; you bitter, white gun clinger.

Progressives only care about “social issues” they can use to take and hold more power. Disarming the peasants and bringing in millions of “undocumented voters” are right at the top of their “to-do” list.

Deficit reduction? Their definition of that is “raise taxes and inflate the currency”. After all, it’s all somebody else’s money, so therefore (by their logic) it’s free.

Power hungry, delusional and stupid is no way to go through life. But you’d never know it by watching progressives in action.

0 said that under his economic illiteracy that there have been 6 million new jobs created. How come there are 9 million fewer people working?
