Allegedly these lunatics drew a crowd of 30,000. We seriously doubt that.
Waving banners and signs with slogans like “what will be your climate legacy?,” the protesters called on Obama to reject the Keystone XL pipeline that would bring oil from Canada to Texas, and order the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to set carbon standards for power plants.
“It’s time for the country to wake up, the US has been dragging its feet too long,” said Mimi Body, one of the protesters.
The event was organized by local and national environmental groups, including the Sierra Club, under an umbrella group named Forward on Climate. The Sierra Club said that 30,000 demonstrators were at the event.
“It’s a big deal because the world is watching us,” said Canadian-born actress Evangeline Lilly, star of TV’s “Lost.”
Actually the world is watching something else today since this event drew so little news coverage. If anything, the world is pointing and laughing at you.
The usual suspects sent their support to the shivering masses. Likely from somewhere warm.
Celebrities who have signed a petition supporting the protesters include Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon, Morgan Freeman, Robert Kennedy Jr and Yoko Ono.
Meanwhile, Obama pal and Communist truther Van Jones was on hand for comic relief.
“I think we should take the president at his word, but make him honor his word,” Jones said. “This pipeline, if it goes through—the first thing that the pipeline runs over is the credibility of the president of the United States. That’s the first thing it runs over. He said that he’s not going to let us be a generation that cooks the earth.”
Jones continued: “If we lose, we lose everything. We’re fighting for the children of all species. This isn’t just a fight about Democrats versus Republicans in the United States. The children of all species forever are going to be impacted by what we do in this town for the next 12 to 24 months.
