We guess harassing a few women is OK with her, but now that Bob “Filthy” Filner is approaching double digits in the number of women harassed, the head of the Democratic Party decided it’s time to bravely come forward and call for his resignation.
The head of the Democratic Party on Friday urged San Diego Mayor Bob Filner to resign, following allegations from four more women that they were targets of his sexual advances.
The statement from Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who was also Filner’s former House colleague, adds a new level of pressure on the defiant mayor, who so far has resisted calls to resign.
“The misconduct Mayor Bob Filner has been accused of is reprehensible and indefensible. I am personally offended by his actions and I firmly believe no employee should face a hostile environment or harassment at their place of employment,” Wasserman Schultz said in a statement. “There is no place for this type of conduct in the workplace and certainly not in our city halls and public offices. For the good of the City of San Diego, I call on Mayor Filner to resign.”
Three separate sources inside San Diego City Hall told Team 10 Mayor Bob Filner is considering taking time off for therapy amid more calls for him to resign over sexual harassment accusations.
Calls and emails to Filner’s office were not immediately answered, but a statement released by the mayor’s office late Friday morning said Filner was going to make an announcement at noon.
Filner has not recently addressed growing calls for him to resign over sexual harassment allegations by a growing number of women, and he has never held a news conference on the scandal.
